    Second tasting!
What a slap in the mouth: the power, the spices! Crazy potential. Better when opening the bottle than when I took my last sample note.
    • Nose
      91 91
Superb camphorated and waxed fruit. We also have a lot of butter which adds a little heaviness.
Features apple, light exotic fruit a little shy.
Will surely improve with aeration of the bottle.
    • Taste
      95 95
In the mouth it is spicy.
      Cinnamon, oak, pepper, goji berries.
We have exotic fruit. Passion fruit, mango, papaya, pineapple, peach.
Lots of wax and always butter.
    • Finish
      92 92
Final on fruits, wax, honey, butter.
      Simple but effective.

Tasted during the Lindores Whisky Festival 2009.
Sensationally balanced Glenfarclas without corners and edges with a fabulous Fino Sherry nose.
Thanks Luc for the great selection ...

I'm not usually the biggest Glenfarclas fan but this is definitely going very well.
The balance is almost perfect. We are on a beautiful fino.

    Second test on 10/16/2021:
A little shorter in the final, but still very good. 91.5

      Simply superb nose.
First of all, a wave of fruit. Apricots, peaches, papayas, mandarins.
Then cloves, white chocolate, pepper, light leather and freshly cut wood.
The balance is perfect and the alcohol is not felt at all.
With aeration we enter a slightly fresher and more vegetal area. The wax is revealed, as well as fresh mint, but also aromatic herbs.
    • Taste
      93 93
In the mouth the pleasure continues.
The glass is oily and soft. Alcohol is also imperceptible here.
Lots of fruit, a little more cooked and candied than on the nose. Peach, apple, tangerine, lemon candy.
Licorice is also very present and wrapped in camphor.
    • Finish
      92 92
Superb finish on fruits, mainly oranges and tangerines, camphor, and pepper.
It's very long and does a great job of honoring the glass as a whole. Very light caramel.
      Fresh mint is also present.

    whiskyfun:

Glenfarclas 1968/2009 (51.2%, OB for Lindores Whisky Society 5th anniversary, cask #699, 11 bottles)  One would expect Mr Timmermans, a patented Glenfarclas collector, would select a good cask for his club. Colour: deep gold. Nose: right, this is exceptional indeed. It’s got everything that the 1967 had plus an extremely luscious yet complex fruitiness that reminds me of the first 1965 Family Cask. Probably more various fruits than a costermonger would know and also some wonderful whiffs of beehive (minus the stings) and a little vanilla fudge. Perfect balance. With water: gets fantastically dry and elegant, very stylish, with whiffs of precious wood (wouldn’t a new Rolls-Royce smell like this?), steak and various herbs. Water truly brings another dimension. Mouth (neat): extremely big, dense and assertive, tasting higher than +/-50%, starting very liquoricy and with notes of Mandarine Impériale and maybe a little raspberry eau-de-vie. Very concentrated and without one single sign of overaging, it’s almost a little rough when unreduced! Hints of grape skins. With water: less development than on the nose but that’s not uncommon at all. More prunes, raspberry jam and soft spices. The oak comes through a bit. Finish: very long, even more on orange liqueur and pepper. Faint peatiness. Comments: big, big whisky. As they say, ‘I want to marry this whisky’. And one would almost wish to acquire the Belgian nationality! SGP:662 - 93 points

Superb Glenfarclas. Though the oak is certainly present, itâ€
    • Nose
Very sophisticated. Complex layers of fruit mixed with sweeter notes of marzipan and marshmallows. Gentle sherry with honey and some vanilla. Cinnamon, pepper, toffee and cake. Some wax / oak polish, which brings it close to old Clynelish at times. A real gentleman.
    • Taste
Big attack, fruity with hints of leather. Fresh raspberry jam and plums. Again slightly peppery with added notes of cloves. Very punchy and slightly meaty.
    • Finish
Very long, on spicy oranges. Hints of tobacco. Getting drier.
