    • Nose
      Peat, milk chocolate, blackberry, curry, minerals and peach. With water there's gingerbread.
    • Taste
      Peat, blackberry, caramel, mocha, peach and spice.
    • Finish
      Peat, gingerbread, blueberry and peach.

  2. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

    Nice greasy sweetness, glazed bacon, light cowshed, the typical well-integrated Octomore peat. Sweet and peaty.
    In the mouth citrus, peat, a lot of sweetness and only a light alcoholic tickle.
    Then sweet, very peaty, cooling mint, oak, subtle bitterness but rather sweet smoky.

    Water doesn't change much, it gets a little drier.

    Nice cute octomore. I like it.

    - a very good octomore,
    - has much more to offer than just a classic "smoke bomb" (more fruit aroma and more complex), on par with Ardbeg UIGEDAIL
    - extremely tasty but unfortunately also extremely expensive
    • Nose
      very strong intense "slightly" smoky note, but aromatic smoke, a bit greasy, clearly fruity, berries, plum, cherry, old oak, tingles in the nose
    • Taste
      oW: for the 58.4% surprisingly soft, voluminous appearance, very aromatic, oily, for the% number very mild, dry fruity, berries, spices, grilled bacon, tobacco;

      mW: almost a bit "diluted" and somehow looks "more sprittig" than without water, crazy but tastes really better without water
    • Finish
      long fruity, slightly smoky finish, very long fruity and smoky aftertaste, very aromatic

    Expensive - young - but very, very good!
    Color: dark gold, copper;
    • Nose
      aromatic smoke, charcoal, bacon, fruits (grapes, cherries, berries), spices;
    • Taste
      voluminous, fruity and oily appearance, smoke, grilled bacon, juicy spare ribs, tobacco, caramel, bitter chocolate, coffee;
    • Finish
      good medium length, warming, oily; aftertaste chocolate;

    One of the best octomore ever produced. The color is like dark gold! If you like peat and chocolate sweetness, this is the one you need to have

    Enthusiasm: 4/5 Whisky n ° 1744
    • Nose
      Malt is in the spotlight, accompanied by a large peat largely tempered by beautiful juicy red fruits.
    • Taste
      On the palate, very ashy, oily texture. Lively, brilliant, never violent.
    • Finish
      Finish especially spicy but the aromas blend with ashes, smoke and fruits. Oily and silky persistance.

    Neat :

    The nose starts off with a bit too much wet wood but after a few minutes the red fruits are getting in more and more.

    Very drinkable at this strength with the red fruits coming through nicely as is the high peat level! That peat level dominates the finish.

    With some water the taste becomes more fruity with some very nice peat which takes over massively in the finish.

    A great whisky indeed and my second Octomore after the 8.01 which I also liked a lot.

    Very peated, but not as interesting or complex as I hoped. Far from the best Octomore I've tried.

      more medicinal notes, camphor, than smoke. Peat is definitely there, and quite strong, but medicinal notes are stronger. Wine cask notes, musty, wolly, funky stuff. Pipe tobacco, dusty old wooden cabinet shelves, wood shavings, pinapple, orange oil.
    • Taste
      78 78
      Very hot on the palate, good alcohol burn, just a bit too aggressive. Chili pepper, black pepper, quite dry on the inside of the cheeks, large dose of peat smoke, medicinal notes, brine, but other notes are quite subtle. Very low sweetness, a bit musty. Second chew isn't much better, sweetness still low, matchbox sulphur and stewed vegetables join in along with some ginger, peat smoke still increasing, along with medicinal notes. Third chew is hotter, smokier, and it's raw, rough, lots of bite, chili pepper, very dry. Nothing pleasing or sweet to balance things out. Good for those that just want smoke.
    • Finish
      83 83
      Very heavy on the smoke. A little bit of ginger, chili pepper, black pepper, funky mustiness.
