  1. Dre73 scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Beautiful fruity and sweet whisky, full but very smooth and gentle. Really a very pleasant one.
    • Nose
      91 91
Fruity and candy, Haribo cherry sweets or something alike. Peach, floral, and citrus. Vanilla, alcohol is quite present. Full scent, later on some banana as well.
    • Taste
      90 90
Soft and smooth, creamy and full. Sweet, candy-like, Haribo again. Peach as well, honey, orange. Later on some nougat and nuts.
    • Finish
      89 89
Now a little tingling in the throat, still candy-like. Raspberry too. Pretty long, some oakwood now, and orange.

I think I got a bad sample but there is noticeable soap in this. I can taste the greatness that others mention but the palate and finish are ruined by soap

Why did you rate this whisky 92 points?
Let's quote Elvis, a famous american philosopher :
"Because, well, well, well just because!"

And let's add a quote to the quote :
"Without Music (AND WHISKY), life would be a mistake, a suffering, an exile." F. Nietzsche
    • Nose
First nose is piney and also yeasty/bready (fresh hot baguette style). Then you're in for a journey through beeswax and pollens, stonefruits (peaches and abricots), discreet pear (green Haribo gummy bear), some melon and exotic fruits too. Nutmeg, cinnamon and peppery spices has to be mentioned as it spent 45 years in the oak but they complement/compliment the whole. As it opens up (30 min) it focuses on oranges wrapped in honey, beeswax and pollen. You have this fruity/almondy touch akin to "Calisson d'Aix" with a buttery/pastry side like yesterday's croissants. Of course some delicate spices remain.
Impressive nose, both incredibly fresh and evolutive.
    • Taste
You get what the nose promised, Hooray!
Firsteval the fruits and the whole beehive melted with the pastries. Then tingling spices with an herbal edge giving a real freshness to the whole (eucalyptus, camphor but just a notion, no tiger balm involved here). After 2 minutes, fruits come back stronger, getting more and more focused with time.
    • Finish
Long, a teeny-weeny bit drying but as the fruity side does an impressive comeback, it's perfectly and subtly balanced till the end.
A 44 year old majestic speyside!

Forest pine resin mixed with tropical fruit chutney..fresh and complex and sophisticated matured as with all these oldies from 1973
    • Taste
      92 92
The nose reflects on the palate a bit more green and slightly oaky.. now we have the skins of all these tropical fruits plus aromatic wood oils
    • Finish
      90 90
The green and oaky side makes the finish loose some points

    • Nose
A subtle blend of fruits: citrus fruits, pears, bananas and mango ... But also plants with a slightly grassy side. It's sweet and fresh like a lemonade with a hint of cinnamon. The balance is perfect.
    • Taste
Sweet as a... well as a sweet, with ssugary notes in addition to being fruity (like on the nose). A touch of spices and wood (very light, not at all invasive despite his age). It is extremely sweet and even slightly creamy in the mouth, it is soft and invades the palate with a beautiful creaminess.
    • Finish
Medium to long, fruity, spicy (a touch of pepper), we approach the perfection until the end.

  14. Calmar scored this whisky 93 points Connoisseur

A very unusual and interesting mole, a fabulous aroma, a slightly less impressive but equally complex and deep taste / finish, a very wide and rich range of derivatives, many rare and exotic notes, a balance at the height, pitch attached and generally a breath of clean air after dozens monotonous sherry and peat releases.
    • Nose
Open, dry, arboreal, dry medicinal herbs, mixed notes, anise, valerian, coriander, new leather goods, new sneakers, lemon peel, licorice, lemonade-lollipop motifs, pear Duchesse, coated tablets, vitamins Revit, cinnamon, leaves in the herbarium - a very deep and complex, very unusual profile.
    • Taste
Thick, saturated, oak, pepper, sweet confectionery notes, nuts, nougat, corn, lemon peel, ginger, cinnamon, tart-bitter hints of a young bark.
    • Finish
Soft, warm, spicy, pepper, candied orange peel, ginger, Christmas cake, tropical fruits, creamy confectionery notes, nuts, chicken breast candy.

it is delicious, noble, ripe - but compared to the last ARC, Mancarella and ADF it is a bit thin - it lacks intensity, the nose is quite fast dead - for me about the level of Whisky Doris 1975er
    • Nose
Pineapple, mango, orange, banana, citrus, yogurt, honey, bee wax - fine sweet and sour balance

Behave, a bit shy, wants hand warmth and time, you have to breathe a bit shallow otherwise rips off the nose
    • Taste
Pineapple, mango, tree juice, wax - sweet, light fruity acidity, mild, round, initially fruity it becomes spicier when chewing - shows creamy light oak, tree sap, herbs, pepper,
    • Finish
gentle wax film, spicy vegetal, light oak - freshly cut and juicy

It seems all those Speysiders from 1973 just can't go wrong - this is another fantastic bottling!
    • Nose
Truck loads of tropical fruits, Thai pineapples, mango, bananas, passion fruit and apricots - a bit trending to overripe fruits, good acidity like a dessert wine, honey comb, spices, cloves, pepper - very exotic and great!
    • Taste
Oily, creamy, mellow, rich fruit salad marinated with scotch, good sweetness balanced with fine oak wood, more spices, some Sauternish notes - very good!
    • Finish
Medium long, warm, fruity, spicy, a bit more woody but not drying
