Part of the blind forum tasting edition 5
    • Nose
Immediately that typical port sweetness. cranberries, strawberries, raspberries, raisins, honey, red wine and mild spices.
    • Taste
Red fruit cake, wood resin and somehow it gives a bit of a dry red wine and maybe even vinegar kind of flavor. It gives a pleasant sourness. It’s robust.
    • Finish
Long and sweet. Cherry candy, again wood resin, chocolate with orange stuffing (sinaassnippers). There’s also a whiff of mint and a whiff of nutty mustiness.

Blind tasting: Rather dark on the nose with coffee, chocolate, wet wood, shoe polish and dried currants. Nice! These flavours are joint by a bit of vanille, but mainly dark forest fruits that morph into an burnt offnote. The dissapointing finish is sweet and (too )dry at the same time, and has more unpleasant notes like card board and burnt plastic. I've had better Glendronachs...

    • Nose
      87 87
Sweet and sour red fruits, sour cherries, sultana, plum, dried apricot, fruit syrup, something earthy, some sour wine in the background, walnuts.
    • Taste
      84 84
More of the plum and dried stone fruits, blueberry, liquorice, some sourness, peppery sharpness, coffee bitters and tannic oak wood.
    • Finish
      82 82
Medium length: juicy sweet and sour fruits, cocoa, espresso bitters, drying wood tannins take over quickly.

Had this one blind, no signs of Dronach here, but can't remember to have had a portcask Dronach before. Not one of the best Dronachs, but certainly not bad.
    • Nose
      86 86
Red fruits, fresh, cherries, hardly any alcohol. Later on chocolate.
    • Taste
      86 86
Pretty powerful, intense, high on alcohol now. Red fruits, plums, raisins.
    • Finish
      87 87
More smooth now, some sparkle, red fruits, pretty drying. Woody. Long.

  19. Ostap scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

In the aroma, just a little bit of whisky, it's very portable. Saturated, sweet, fruit and berry. The taste is more salty with the dominance of iris. Unusual and non-whisky. I liked it, although I do not think that he will cause the same emotions in the critics of the guilty endings / finishes. Because it's very non-canonical!
    • Nose
Mineral, sweet pastry, fruit, tangible wine, sweet apples, jam from heavenly apples, alic, puffed, raspberry compote and teaspoon, mango, candy "Cherry in brandy", milk bream, port wine in all its beauty, anise, oak, milk chocolate, kiwi, vanilla, grapefruit, red currant, plum, honey notes. Aroma compote, juicy, even sticky!
    • Taste
Plum, salted, iris, waffles, currants, chocolate, mineral and oily.
    • Finish
Chocolate, plum, apple, currant, with tangled sourness, tea rose, salty iris. Long lasting enough.

  20. pianoman scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Round, fruity. Strawberry jam, dark cherries, blueberries. Some vanilla and wood glue. Juicy apple pie with powdered sugar. Tea leaves, dried orange pieces.
    • Taste
Sweet. Raspberry cake with mint. White pepper. Pickled cherries. Nougat, dark chocolate. Medium.

  21. Numwierum scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

A fine port whisky, which well presents these aromas on the nose, mouth and finish. Unfortunately, the flavors fight again and again against the not so well-integrated alcohol.

  22. Kensay scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Cool sherry nose, ripe plum, alcoholized cherry, walnut
The taste is first a wave of spices, then softens and envelops with fresh fruits, herbs
The finish is very delicate, some spices, red wine, herbs

    Nice young drones

  23. nallacam scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Impresses with a creamy and full mouthfeel. The sweetness catches the 55% Alc. wonderful on. Complex, strong and balanced.

Delicious stuff! Port and Glendronach, because you can probably not do much wrong with me: mrgreen: that was truly a worthy barrel for a single cask! And in contrast to such short, wet post-maturity works nothing set up or artificial. A beautiful port Vollreifung completely to my liking!
    • Nose
Spicy plum jam, nutmeg, vanilla, cigar tobacco, fresh mint, blackberries, forest honey, tree resin, nut chocolate, a slightly sour note towards soft red wine vinegar, a nice interplay of aromas and alcohol (at least 55.4%) no trace. Nice! with a little bit of water, the nuts are stronger and the sourish taste comes back, as well as the mint, but cherries are added.
    • Taste
Hossa! Strong start! Spicy, peppery, drooling begins, here you notice the power, without the alcohol would attract attention, dark chocolate with nuts and plum jam, cherries and coffee, nutmeg, black pepper, creamy caramel, some honey but less sweet than the nose, You will notice something on tap, but everything is harmonious. With some water even better, the aromas remain, but the pepper is tamed and the overall mouthfeel becomes even more harmonious.
    • Finish
Medium long, coffee, slightly dry, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, even the cherries stay long and an exciting hint of licorice complements the finish!
