Whisky Reviews for Peatside 2010 StmD

  1. Hemdl scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

It should be here to a peated Glenglassaugh, no idea if that is the facts. In the nose still with strong influence of porosity, but then more like type "young smoke bomb". Not bad, but nothing that you will not find anywhere else.
    • Nose
Strong in the nose, but the high alcohol content heats powerfully. It is easy to see that there is a rather young malt in the glass. In addition, strong port wine flavors, sweet and heavy. At the same time a slightly tart note, which is taken but gradually by the pleasantly strong, but not ├╝berlagendernden peat smoke and pushed back. What remains is a mixture of smoked strawberries and cherry punch with neat alcohol.
    • Taste
Here too strong in the beginning, the alcohol tickles the tongue vigorously. The peat smoke here already much more dominant than in the nose and in conjunction with the slightly spicy oak notes almost too dominant to give the port keg there a lot of scope. The beautiful fruit notes disappear almost completely here, on the tongue more smoke than fruit bomb.
    • Finish
Short to medium long, again characterized by smoke and light oak. Strong and warming, unfortunately also little or no influence of the port wine anymore. Still a little light citrus, then slightly dry and smoky.

Teaspooned Glenglasaugh. Nice one again, the guys behind Stillman's know her business and choose a good dram again. The peat is well balanced and embedded in the whisky. Well made. Thumbs up!
