5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 91.42 points

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

An excellent example of sherry aging, very thick, deep and rich, a wide palette of derivatives, however, not going beyond the sherry standard, excellent balance, aroma, perhaps, dominates here.
    • Nose
Open, dry, old noble wood, solid wood furniture, furniture lacquer, polish, buckwheat honey, floral notes, dried mushrooms, raisins, dried fruits, earthy tones, pu-erh, leavened wort, dried crackers, rye bread, sweet pastry shades, burnt jam chocolate.
    • Taste
Thick, rich, a lot of oak and a lot of sweets, raisins, burnt fruit jam, burnt caramel, cola, burnt crackers, stout, prunes, puer, very thick, concentrated.
    • Finish
Continued taste, less oak, more dried fruits, raisins, less sweets, unsweetened prunes, dried mushrooms, cola, sour metal, puer, velvet beer, coffee.

  2. valery77 scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Slightly closed at first. Wine notes, vanilla, sweet pastries, old leather furniture, freshly sawn boards, delicate notes of a carpentry workshop, polish, dried apricots, dried prunes, chocolates with liqueur filling, marinade. 23
    • Taste
Medium-bodied, moderately sweet, somewhat scalding. Black pepper, balsamic notes, creamy caramel, lollipops, dried apricots, herbal bitterness, woody tannins. 22
    • Finish
Medium in length, tannic, slightly astringent. 22
Interesting, powerful sherry, although the taste is slightly biting without water. Balance 22
      Total 89

    Color: Sherry
Nose: powerful, moist, fortified red wine, rotten foliage, homemade cherry tincture, Moroccan mint, crushed tangerine peel, a little Indian salt, barberry candy.
Taste: very refreshing, citrus lollipops, fruit tobacco, oak, burnt meat, apricot kernel.
Finish: long, warm, the same candies, tree bark, varnish, burnt meat, lemongrass.
Conclusion: Yesterday, trying to bottling from the manager, I first thought that you need to have a whole bottle for tastings. Today I was again visited by this thought. This whisky is simply awesome in terms of aroma; notes of chocolate come from an empty glass. But the taste and finish are more strict. However, like the whole Glen Elgin.

I love this profile - reminds me on some very good old sherried Springbanks. Fantastic!

Cooked oranges, old cedar wood, dark chocolate, whiffs of resin, spices, nutmeg, hints of xmas spice, some dried fruits, dates, acacia honey - excellent!
    • Taste
      95 95
Little punchy, oily, creamy, liquorice, good sweetness, more dried fruits, plums, figs, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, dark chocolate, cooked fruits, oranges, jam, fine sherry wood, more spices, little herbal - superb!
    • Finish
      93 93
Long, warm, spicy, more wood, more tannins - great!
