    Ooh that was a fruity one! The nose was all-in on fruits, whereas the palate was more in balance with the distillate itself. Lots of jumpy flavours you would expect of a younger single malt, I for sure wouldn't tell this was 20 years old if I didn't know beforehand! Is that a positive or a negative? I don't know. I expect a certain feel of refinement from a single malt this age, but then again the flavours are intense and kicking. At least it's not boring and muted. On the other hand, the bitterness. Shouldn't the alcohol be a little more integrated after 20 years? Based on flavours alone, I would rank this a little higher than I do now.
    • Nose
      Crisp malt and an abundance of fresh fruit. Malt, sultana, cardboard, new leather, vanilla, anise, honey, custard, buttermilk, milk chocolate, salted caramel, green apple, unripe banana, lemon, orange zest, pineapple, strawberry jam, plum and and a little metallic note hiding in the background. A real fruitbomb and it appears very fresh for its age. The malt itself is clearly there too, but the fruitiness plays the biggest role.
    • Taste
      An explosion of sour fruits and more malt-forward than the nose. Malted barley, pine tree, hay, ginger, oak, icing sugar, liquorice, lavender, paprika, coconut, apple cider, lemon, grapefruit and dried apricot. Fairly sweet/sour and malty with some tropical flavours here and there, the palate provides more balance than the nose. Turns bitter with time as the alcohol takes a prominent spot. That's not good for something of this age, is it?
    • Finish
      Pretty long, sweet dried fruits turn bitter pretty quick and make place for lots of malted barley.
