  1. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

Very fruity orchard fruits, yellow fruits, banana, very nice

  2. dram-drinker scored this whisky 91 points Moderator

A very mature old style Glenrothes that shows of course quite some woody notes after 35 years but is still pretty fresh and fruity. Very good!
    • Nose
      91 91
Fruity, yellow fruits, pear, quince, pineapple, ripe banana, honey, spices, fine oak wood, hints of jam, whiffs of solvent - really good
    • Taste
      92 92
Little punchy, oily, creamy, subtle sweetness, fruity, more ripe yellow fruits, probably also some apricot and orange zest, more spices, little ginger, oak wood, pepper, more jam - very good
    • Finish
      90 90
Medium long, warm, zesty, more orange zest, going into grapefruits, probably a tad tannic too but not drying - not bad

    Colour: Gold
Nose: Smoky, then with some aeration it becomes smoother and
fruitier (apricots and melon) and on vanilla, but the nose is still not very
intense and rather weak. Diluted, it becomes fruitier (pineapple) and more
    floral.
Taste: Dry, bitter, oaky, fruity (dried apricots), smoky (tobacco),
spicy, then it gets smoother, as the melon aromas goes through with some
oranges. Diluted, it loses its dryness and bitterness, but it becomes also
weaker. The finish is short, dry, slightly bitter, smoky, slightly oaky and on
    vanilla.
General Impression: This old Glenrothes is not unpleasant, but not a
cracker, with the flavours rather weak.
