    Yes, I'm in heaven

    what a beautiful Karuizawa
The Bourbon barrel has done a great job
from the nose to the finish consistently class and harmonious with a subtle tension
    • Nose
      velvety light brown raisins
delicate sourish note in the background
      Resin from fresh wood
      some coconut
      a touch of cardamom
crumbly dry chocolate with fresh apricot
The apricot with its juicy firm flesh is increasingly coming to the fore
      the spiciness remains behind

      velvety skin, firm sweet meat
      spicy exotic
      Your mouth is getting wet
      you would like to bite
    • Taste
soft and supple on your lips
      fruity spicy in your mouth

      Wood is painted on deck
You think it is too fresh for it, it will break soon
the girl comes out of the galley
it smells of freshly ground coffee
      the roasted aromas lure you
Nutmeg and chocolate sprinkle over your coffee
      and smiles
      it smells wonderful
      Your mouth is dry
She takes one of the apricots
Your lips are getting wet from the juice
You feel how well it fits
Toasted aromas with tart chocolate, nutmeg and apricot meat
    • Finish
      long and perfect

You go through it again and again
and it is always something different

the nutmeg sticks to the old wood

      the end:

"now it's the porous old wood fibers of the barrel ..
They are soft and still release last old aromas from the long barrel and whisky marriage
the cachous shimmer again and again ...
      Baked apple juice ..... "

One of the most exciting Karus I ever had, Bourbon keg and so old is of course not the norm and the well-known hint of ash gives it the crucial character touch.
    • Nose
Great bright fruits, lychee, apricot, peach, yellow, young pears, slightly burnt hay, crushed, already brown banana, cinnamon, coconut, nutmeg, black tea, lots of honey, vanilla, exciting blend of very sweet over-ripe bourbon notes and this Dryness (tea and hay)
    • Taste
Lychee, apricot, honeydew melon, white chocolate, white pepper, camphor, cardamom, ginger, papaya, star fruit, hints of salt are also to discover, old, long-burned furniture leftovers, mushy banana again, some hay, the yellow pears
    • Finish
Very dry, Lychee still, melon, camphor, ginger, green apple now here too, coconut, long

Very good Boubon barrel ripening, reminds again and again of a sherry barrel. Untypical Karuizawa.
    • Nose
      93 93
Cowshed, wet animal hide, stable in the rain, intensive spices, cinnamon, vanilla, forest honey, alcohol is clear, a very sweet and complex nose, not easy to "decipher", takes a lot of time
    • Taste
      93 93
A real strong and tasteful start. A Fruchtpotpurri with a hint of exoticism. Orange, melon, raspberry, strong alcohol note. Old fashioned.

With the addition of water, it becomes more floral, floral ... a bit of detergent.

The emptied glass smells like a locksmith.
    • Finish
      91 91
Caramel and orange dominate the finish. Long and intensive.

An extremely interesting karuizawa and the polar opposite of the typical Karuizawa sherry bombs. Its very deep and complex, and new flavors continue to come out over time in the glass. However, If you dont like saltiness or bitterness, this wont be for you. Thanks @ASWhisky for the sample :)
    • Nose
Ripe wine grapes (chardonnay), banana, eucalyptus/menthol, really pleasant spice, maybe cardamom. very bright and yellow. vanilla, some floral lavender notes, honey but in the manuka style, ashy
    • Taste
Licorice, bourbon, sour fruit, umeshu - really interesting right off the bat. Then a mix of melons - the Japanese melon candy flavor (mostly the orange sweet cantaloupe) and then some bitter from the green melons. Nougat from a milky way, transforming to caramel from a twix, very sweet. Nice elegant spice, oily, and more citrus. The wood tannin are visible, but not overly done, some white peach or other stone fruit sweetness is on the palate too, leading to the finish with bitter espresso or black tea
    • Finish
Slightly peaty with ocean brine notes, little hint of salt, lemon and prunes. Anise bitterness, or very astringent citrus peel. Slightly drying, white wine astringency, the eucalptyus/menthol notes wind down on the finish too. Nice and oily in the mid notes and finish. That sour notes continues, but its very weird and pleasant…like apple cider that went slightly over
