Serge 92 points vs Dave Broom 77 points? A wonderful example of how much impressions of one and the same whisky can differ even among such greats in the world of whisky. And just because of this, I am extremely curious about my own impression of this bottle.

What a beautiful Bowmore from the Bourbon barrel. With its tropical fruits on the tongue, its creaminess and its mild smoky notes, this whisky could be poured without hesitation onto those who otherwise do not have much in common with the classic Bowmore profile (smoke / sherry) or even with Islay smokers. Class.
    • Nose
      90 90
The first impression on the nose is a maritime, saltier one. Add to that the echoes of sweet roasted over an open fire. Smoked mackerel. The smoky note is discreet, but still very good to make out. Little peat smoke. With a freshly cut mango, he looks very airy, light, refreshing for a Bowmore. Rape honey, vanilla pod, heather.
    • Taste
      90 90
Very fruity, not too strong with a fruit salad of pineapple, orange, mango, peach and lemon zest. Very creamy and full on the tongue. Fine woody notes blended with black pepper, lovage and nutmeg. The smoky note is also tamed on the tongue. Moist driftwood drying in the sun. A stranded crab, victim of running water, exposed to the sun. Salt liquorice, tobacco notes.
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium to long. Still creamy and full-bodied with now increasing smoke. The tropical fruits no longer as intense as when they started, but still present in a weakened form. Fine wood note, leather, tobacco crumbs.

    A very good one.
    • Nose
Maritime notes with smoked mussels, brine followed by burning coal.
    • Taste
Smoked cheese, poached pears but saltiness comes through with anchovies.
    • Finish
All spice followed by aromas of cigar boxes.
