Whisky Reviews for Glenlossie 2008 ANHA

I tasted it during a tasting and was very enthusiastic ... was even more enthusiastic when I could get hold of a bottle of it ... and then came the disillusionment ... not soooo delicious as experienced ... how can that be. First of all, he needs air to breathe ... and secondly (it sounds a bit crazy) he needs a whisky that I taste the smoky ... then this one is a lot more delicious (I recommend the Bowmore 18 in the standard bottling). Try it!
Addition after a few weeks standing 3/4 full bottle: The really needs oxidation and is now getting better if the bottle is not so full. Today keyed again and much better than before ... then I'll probably keep my spare bottle ... (Now 89 instead of 84 points!)
    • Nose
Sour red fruits, raisins, dates, leather and pepper in the background, sour apple, light honey fragrance, vanilla, toffee and raspberries (If Bowmore before then felt: great barrel aroma, still significantly sweeter and stronger) ...
    • Taste
Pepper, alcohol pushes, honey sweetness and sour apricot, oak .... Addition: now after prolonged oxidation in bottle (one month later) significantly more dark fruits, Scherrysuße, much yummy
    • Finish
Honey, oak, dryness in the mouth, espresso (slight pleasant bitterness in the mouth), overall a short finish ... Addition: now after a long period of oxidation much longer finish with additional Scherrynoten and dark fruits, really yummy

Tenth and last tasty whisky at the Radebeul festival. My first encounter with Glenlossie. Good whisky, like everything I tasted from the bottle of Anam to h-Alba.
    • Nose
Sweet smell, something between the sherry and the sweet peat (which is only slightly present here), sweet guminess, earthyness, alumness. (85 b)
    • Taste
Very sweet whisky, to my surprise, surprisingly. Strong influence of fresh and sweet sherry. In the end, it smacks of alcohol and it is even more sweet. (88 b)

  3. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

This is not a bad whisky, but I'm dominated by the youthful notes, despite the sherry barrel.
    • Nose
Smells very frisky and somehow young, the sherry is there, but rather in a youthful fresh, and slightly acidic style. A few raisins, some vanilla, but also a bit too young, new make similar fruit notes.
    • Taste
Powerful, pepper, a little pear, slightly sourish fruit notes, some tart oak, licorice
    • Finish
dry, a lot of tobacco and here are also beautiful sherry and fruit notes to light.
