The best Talisker I've ever had. Deep, juicy and tender, with an endless aftertaste, the perfect balance. The drink of the gods. The abundance of fruity notes is somewhat reminiscent of the best speysides of 1973
    • Nose
      93 93
delicate, fruity, light sweet smoke. Sweet tangerines, ripe mango, eucalyptus, sweet green tea, vanilla and honey
    • Taste
      92 92
sea salt, sweet smoke, ripe citruses, bananas, passion fruit, tart sweet pear. fresh and juicy
    • Finish
      92 92
apricot pits with orange peel, suasep, jasmine, very long and delicate

  2. DocF scored this whisky 94 points Expert Senior

In the nose, dried and candied yellow fruits in front of resin, cinnamon, oatmeal, citrus oil and peel, what is supposed to have been smoke, malt and perhaps dry refill sherry can no longer be identified. With water, rather Talisker instead of '73 Speysider, more soot, more wilderness, more undergrowth, but it stays fresh, no warm, salty, fresh smoke. In the mouth with a little water, the perfect blend of everything above, does not last as long in the finish as some 25s.

A bit more mature, more interwoven than 25yo 2004/5, all in all there is little.

It has the same skeleton as other mid-to-high-age tesca, with a slight breakthrough in taste, but the final rhyme is rough, and it is quite anticlimactic: We are always so harsh on this level of whisky
    • Nose
      91 91
Very vibrant aroma. Short-term new leather, a lot of Fanta soda, soaked vitamin C effervescent tablets, the fishy smell of salted fish and mint, and sea salt followed closely. After a little wake up, the vitamin C breath is closer to the bitterness of orange juice peeled with the skin. The overall taste is sour and bitter but the fructose is strong and clear. It is not very complicated, but it is also simple and good smelling. 91.
    • Taste
      91 91
It is sweet and sour. It is recommended not to chew after the mouth. Please feel the change slowly! Green apple hard candy, lemon juice, the astringent dryness of lemon peel oil, clean orange jam and other fruit flavors changed to roasted nuts, ginger oil, and a little citrus peel. After that, the bitterness increased. This is the dark chocolate. The bitterness ends here, where the bitterness slightly crosses the line, bringing up some fishy smell in the smell. The wine has a medium oily body, full flavor, weak alcohol stimulation, clear and comfortable layers, and easy to appreciate wine. 91
    • Finish
      88 88
The bitterness continues. It once again evokes the astringency of lemon peel oil, the spiciness of black pepper, salt, fennel, and mint, which are slightly irritating. 88

    Talisker 30y (bottled 2009) 53.1%
    Color: yellow gold
Nose: brilliant - sweet fruit notes, orange / tangerine, pineapple, plus light maritime notes
    Body: oily
Mouth: pepper, wood, but also sweet notes, honey and candy canes, pastries, orange peel, salt.
Finish: Medium / long, initially peppery, then persistent caramel and salt
Conclusion: great whisky. Multi-layered and yet balanced

So far, unfortunately, the weakest of the Talisker 30 in barrel strength that I have had so far. Nose is great cinema, but the taste is a bad note that goes sour ...

    • Nose
      90 90
the nose is quite variable, but a little not my profile, in the foreground a paraffin candle, wax, a little honey and citrus fruits, gun oil, a slight haze and even a sword belt, oysters appeared at the end, but the general impression is that there is not enough expression and riot of colors, like me love
    • Taste
      92 92
everything is very interesting here, several rolling waves, alternately a tree, citruses, peppers and so on in a circle
    • Finish

    92. The richest palette of taste.
Nose: wax, fruit, sea pebbles, dusty shelf with books ...
Taste: a lot of things! Propolis ... lick sea pebbles ... Varnish ... Wax ... A tarry and sticky mouth ... Difficult to characterize - but it is incomparable and difficult.
Finish: endless, powerful, warm, lacquered and salty.

the nose is a masterpiece - fruity like the '73 Speysider, spicy as Ords from the '70s and beautiful tender Taligen.
He is still delicious on the palate - but he can not compete with his ingenious nose for me. Just snoop away completely.
The distance to 25yo CS is clearly noticeable.
    • Nose
      97 97
Mango, sweet lemon, dried pineapple, yellow melon, yellow kiwi, passion fruit, banana, maple syrup, warm honey, sweet and sour complex fruity, green tea, oatmeal, yasmin, geranium leaves, concentrated tree juice, liquorice, licorice, nutmeg, cinnamon, rattan furniture, wood dust, Citrus, citrus oil, lemon rubbed off, from time to time a hint of old decomposed camp fire smoke blows over and disappears again in the living nose.

The nose is dense and super persistent, while superclean and clear, looks very noble on me
    • Taste
      92 92
sweet, viscid, tender wood smoke, salty spray, seaweed, licorice, weathered sawn wood, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, sweet lemon, lime, pineapple, gooseberry, wax, tobacco, shell limestone, laurel, sweet grass, green branches,
    • Finish
      91 91
long, spicy, slightly peppery and yet mild and cultured

  16. Calmar scored this whisky 93 points Connoisseur

Beautiful multifaceted, enchanting molt, a lot of shades, halftones, power and pressure, and then a certain lightness and airiness, an excellent representative of the distillery, traditionally adds to development.
    • Nose
Restrained, dry, old leather goods, lemon zest, mineral notes - drying plaster, stone crumb; creamy notes - boiled condensed milk, toffee; dry boards, light shades carpentry workshop.
    • Taste
Powerful, rich, oak in all its variations, light smoky-ash notes, lemon zest, salt, bitterness of young bark, nuts, riot of lemon pepper, creamy notes, toffee, floral-grass motifs
    • Finish
Spicy, refreshing, oak, lemon peel, creamy notes, ash and pepper, leather goods, floral shades, bitter chocolate, nuts.

  17. Missalotta scored this whisky 93 points Connoisseur

It's fun to have such an old Talisker in your glass. Over time it has become a bit expensive.
    • Nose
Mango, banana, some honey a touch of smoke
    • Taste
slightly salty, some smoke but nicely integrated. creamy. Over time, the salt & smoke comes a bit more intense and also some citrus and pepper comes to light.
    • Finish
It warms a long time, would be something for the winter before the fire. A slight sharpness on the tongue remains present
      (Chili or pepper)

  20. malthead-sven scored this whisky 96 points Expert Senior

A fitting metaphor for this malt would probably be a "gentle comet impact", he almost accomplishes the squaring of the circle with its mild elegance on one side and the heavy old spice on the other. A full-length malt moment ...
    • Nose
ripe mangoes, with vanilla flavored herbal tea, marzipan, all very fine, yet clear in the nose, almost mesmerizing, brown candy sugar, some wood glue, with water then jelly bananas, Haribo confectionery, a touch fresher and now slightly smoky , Honey and moss
    • Taste
starts tingling on the tip of the tongue, slightly smoky, creamy, creamy, a little like champagne, Brazil nuts, very mild pepper and a little bacon
    • Finish
the further he pulls down, the bigger the mild but intense heat he radiates, like a rising summer sun, leaves a dry sweetness

As with the 25-year-old, this 30-year-old Talisker, the fourth ?edition? from
Diageo released in 2009, has been matured in refill American oak casks and
European oak casks. Almonds, vanilla fudge and gentle smoke on the nose. The
palate is smooth and fruity, with hints of vanilla. Less of a blunt instrument
than that of the 25-year-old, yet retaining all of Talisker?s characteristic
fire in the belly, with no shortage of pepper. Big, confident, citric chili
notes linger for a very long time in the finish.

    Talisker 30yo (53,1%, OB 2009, 3000 btl.)

Nose: obviously the same family as the 25yo, but gentler and creamier. Less smoke, less maritime notes (still there, just muted). More fruity notes, added hints of vanilla and toffee. Hints of almond pie and apples. Very warm, rather sweet and simply lovely. Mouth: fruity again (candied oranges, lime) with some candle wax. Interesting how it starts very feminine (almond milk) but gets more turbulent over time (more peat, salt, strong tea) with a peppery tang. Finish: very long, citrus with pepper. Some salt and smoke.

Well, Talisker 30yo offers a few added levels over the 25yo. The sweet and fruity side is better developed and it balances all the typical Talisker elements very well. It’s richer and very refined. Around € 240.

    Score: 92/100

A strong Talisker and mMn one of the best TALISKER 30yo.
Everything after 2010 should not be allowed to call Talisker30yo.

  29. Eclectic Scotchist scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

This Talisker 30 2009 is very similar in character to the Talisker 30 2010 release that was released the year after (see my tasting note for the 2010 expression for more details), but in my opinion less sherry matured whisky has been vatted into the 2009 expression, which gives a more 'cleaner' feel to it - a cleaner ex-bourbon profile in other words. I slightly prefer the 2010 expression over this one (a bit more punch and a bit richer in some ways), but the 2009 expression has more vanilla and caramel (more of the ex-bourbon traits) notes and I can only say that it is a fantastic Talisker indeed.

(The bottling is marked as being colour-adjusted in the base, but I believe that to be incorrect).

This was in fact the bottling that really started my love of whisky.

  30. SilentStill scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

In the nose one of the best old OA Talisker, on the palate a little bit off.

  31. lexus scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

A little "Talisker" that some 25yo. A very complex malt.
    • Nose
Nose: More delicate than the 25yo 2009, bcp less smoked and marine ... much more on the fruits (apple, clemenin but especially peach), vanilla ... small presence nevertheless of smoke.
    • Taste
Palate: Creamy, vanilla, very fruity smoke with water.
    • Finish
Final: Less powerful than the 25yo 2009 but longer. Spicy (pepper and salt), lemony, smokier than the nose, finally marine notes that develop and rise crescendo power..bcp more talikser in the mouth than the nose ... cold ash also appears and does not stop taking precedence over the rest ... Water also brings fruity nose and mixes with the rest ... The final is evolving all the time and integrates each time very well the new elements. This final is complex and it lasts a very long time.
