Notes of leather and vinegar are not my preferred style - much water recommended

Raisins, wine gum, spices, cloves, cinnamon, fresh sherry wood, hints of leather and rubber
    • Taste

Little punchy, oily, creamy, subtle seetness, more raisins, chocolate, old port wine, hints of vinegar, again little leathery

Medium long, warm, still some fruitness and sweetness but more leathery

Very nice family cask! On the nose wonderful stewed plums with cinnamon, some wet wood, dates, honey and dripping sweet baklava. A nose for absolute sherry lovers. Quite difficult but not too overwhelming. Voluminous in the mouth, lots of oak, wet wood, leathery, sweet with only a subtle bitterness and dark fruity. Blackberry and black currant. In the finish, the wet oak load remains on the tongue for a long time with leathery but also fruity-sweet notes.

Nose: Fresh bayberry, berry sweet, caramel hazelnut latte, corn sugar, the end is just a cup of old fashioned-amarena fabbri, orange peel, bitter essence, a single line, but the sweetness is not greasy and energetic.

Palate: The entrance is coffee liquid, bark, which is randomly converted into the sweetness of sugar cubes and dark chocolate, followed by leaves, berberine, asphalt, rubber gloves, invigorating heavy taste, relatively dry flavor, impression profound.

Balance, Body: Moderately weighted wine body, with less oily feel, no clearer structure, and quite good balance and layering.

Finish: Longer, maintain the thickness, espresso, rubber, baked wood, dark chocolate.

Once again a high-quality piglet, which could be ascribed to a blind tasting for a few more years: Glenfarclas knows how to combine deep sherry fruit, elegant sweetness and massive oak load so elegantly like no other distillery - except for Glendronach - with the Family Casks that each sub-component shows its full strength without dominating and without producing any bad notes. Great! Unfortunately, the price of the whisky for a 19-year-old has already arrived in a border region.

Creamy, sweetish and spicy. White chocolate mousse. Apple, pear, banana with a little honey and chopped almonds. A trace of black pepper. Nougat, hazelnut, roasted pine nuts. Some grapefruit and walnut.

Very beautiful whisky, especially the nose, brilliant. Fruity, strong and full bodied but still smooth as well.
    • Nose
      92 92
Full and fruity, prunes, red fruits, oranges, sweet leather, chocolate. Did I already mention that it's very full? Red grapes, and spicy, cinnamon. Very attractive.
    • Taste
      90 90
Full and fruity, strong yet smooth. Red fruits, chocolate and coffee. Prunes, and also some oranges and honey, and sultana.
    • Finish
      90 90
A little pungent now, full, fruity, red fruits, some chocolate and bitter coffee. Oranges again, prunes. Some wood influence, long finish. Drying, and now lot's of tobacco in the finish.

    • Nose
Bramble, toffee and hazelnut. At first there's a quickly evaporating whiff of sulphur.
    • Taste
Toffee, raisin, bramble, dried fig, milk chocolate and the wood of a cigar box.
    • Finish
Date, raisin, bramble, toffee, nougatine, wood and curry.

  24. Dram Dracula scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Not unique, but an excellent sherry cask nonetheless.
    • Nose
Deep sherry, smoky, dusty, with some dried fruit sticky sweetness.
    • Taste
Lots of raisins here. Toffee. Hint of dark chocolate. Not as warm or mouth-coating as some Glenfarclas can be. Rather, the sherry is sharp and precise. Not a bad thing.
    • Finish
Not very long, but good winey aftertaste.

The Magginote and sulfur are unfortunately both quite clear, with water he is better and overall he has interesting other notes, difficult to evaluate, depends heavily on the mood.
    • Nose
Maggi, clove, nutmeg, brown pepper, match notes, tannins and chocolate chips, camphor, wild garlic, with water a lot more nut chocolate, leather and less maggi and sulfur, a little plum now
    • Taste
Hot, bitter, dark chocolate, liquorice, tannins, match, with water here more nut chocolate as well, leather, wild garlic and rosemary, nutmeg, cinnamon and creme de cassis, but still Maggi and lovage
    • Finish
Bitter, dry, match, old kitchen herbs, Maggi and lovage, medium to long

A strange little piglet ... As I begin to write my commentary, suddenly warmth and voluminous fruit flavors rise again and exude spicy and creamy notes of wood. The nose of Glenfarclas is initially a bit reserved, but releases more and more aromas over time. Dark caramel and dried fruit notes dominate the nose, the taste and the aftertaste are voluminous and wonderfully spicy or aromatic. The (dried) fruit flavors I find for a Glenfarclas rather untypical, and by their nature make this piglet sexy and interesting. A delicious and tasty Glenfarclas, somehow different but delicious. Today I give this Family Cask a deserved 90 points.
    • Nose
Creamy caramel mixes with dark orange, apricots and velvety vineyard peach merge with dried plums and raisins to a creamy sweet mass. Discreet wooden oak tones dissolve from the fruity note, caramelized sugar and dark fruit notes emerge, a minimal hint of sulfur comes off. The alcohol is now easily noticeable, roasted hazelnuts and a hint of buttery Vanillekipferl rise. The longer the Glenfarclas are breathe, the more dried berries and grapes emerge. The sweet fruit note is becoming more and more prevalent and dry oak tones with a minimal hint of sulfur are becoming more dominant.
    • Taste
Caramel and dark dried fruit arms flow voluminous and velvety over the tongue. Plump warmth immediately spreads throughout the palate, plums and cherries mingle with dark oranges, caramelized sugar mixes with dried raisins and plums, a touch of pepper envelops the tongue and dresses the entire palate with chubby warmth and subtle pungency. Spicy wood tones and a chopped hazelnut blend harmoniously with the fruity and dried berries. The different flavors are transported by a cozy warmth, the taste is very complex and voluminous at the moment.
    • Finish
Hazelnuts transform into old and dark walnuts at the beginning of the aftermath. The dark caramel and the dried fruits bloom again in the finish, the aftertaste is now carried by creamy and slightly rancid aromas. Butter melts in the mouth and mixes with slightly rancid walnuts, biscuits and spicy wood elements rest creamy under the tongue. The rancid and buttered walnuts are currently changing with the spicy and sometimes creamy wood elements. Dried raisins and slightly tart oranges are discreetly in the background all the time. The creamy aromas are long remembered.

Dream fabric for dark fruit and sherry lovers on the sweet side of power. Equal to the Glengoyne 25 for me. A very dense malt that can give a lot of pleasure and show many faces.
    • Nose
The scent is stunning: Wonderful plum sweetness meets cinnamon and forest floor. The library oak announces itself in the second wave and also on today's Tastingtag the olfaktorische balance of this nineteen-year malts between "juvenile sweetness" and "elegantly old oak wort" absolutely succeeded. In the course of the tasting, the nice note of the nut, which was much more intense during the first rehearsals, will be announced.
    • Taste
The Antrunk and the first lingering evoke a chubby-sweet mouth feeling of the special class; the library oak with leather, herbs and soft tingle in the second wave announces itself. If you like sweets and can stand a good age-breath, you will be happy.
    • Finish
The finale is exactly what you would expect for a mature, yet still agile sherry malt: plum compote with herbs and cinnamon, enjoyed in a leather chair in a not-so-old library.

it´s not a pitbull - but an extremely well balanced glenfarclas. the relatively low cask strength does not harm at all. excellent!
    • Nose
it´s a glenfarclas, no doubt. whopping sherry, caramelized oranges, toffee, slightly oak & milk chocolate - no sharpness - nicely balanced.
    • Taste
sherry, heather honey, thick cut orange marmelade, roasted nuts.
    • Finish
sweet cane sugar, cherry pit, madeira wine cask, no bitterness, at the very end rather dry.
