Nose : fresh and fruity, melon notes over cereals. Some tiny bits of citrus and ginger in the distance, even salt. Gets a bit sweeter with time.
Mouth : yes the spices, citrus and ginger you could feel in the nose are definitely here. Still on cereals, but sharp, near astringent. I waited for the fruits but they never came.
Finish : Short to medium. Most of it fades quickly but spices linger on with a tiny woody undernote.

I really like the Tormore profile. I'm not sure this one is any better than the 16 y-o, which is a shame considering age and pricing. Plus, the empty glass gives me back some fruits notes I never found in mouth - shame !

Aroma: open, delicate, dried apple peel with sourness, melon with decay, some fruit cake after a crush of juice, with a sweet and sour slightly spoiled smell. Fragrant hay, freshly cut grass, dry sawdust, cocoa with milk, fried almonds.

Taste: sweet, delicate, caramel-chocolate sweetness, light pungency of ginger, a baked apple sprinkled with honey, a little grassy and going into coffee bitterness.

Finish: grassy, light sweet, “exploding caramel”, candied fruit, cocoa, milk chocolate, apple peel, slightly astringent with bitterness, medium long, delicate.

    Rating: 87

Bottom line: interesting Tormor, I liked a little more than their very good base 16, it looks richer, especially the aroma is cool, although there are similarities between the profiles and the official.
Strange fallen fortress for this age ... Here it is probably a little lacking, I would like more juiciness and brighter colors, the rating would be higher, but there is as it is ...

Jams, stewed fruits, plum, marmalade, pickled vegetables
NA. Finish is slightly smoky with zesty cut.

The nose was quite strong - the taste was much better. Not had many by this bottler before - this was half decent stuff.
    • Nose
      80 80
The alcohol is noticeable on the nose - once the old proboscis has recovered some sweet notes come through.
    • Taste
      83 83
The taste is much smoother than the nose suggested - almost like drinking Werther's Original with a bit of added spice.
    • Finish
      82 82
Quite short, although a faint trace lingers a while.
