Whisky Reviews for Balvenie 12-year-old

- Typical Ex-Bourbon maturation.
Floral, yellow fruits, pastry, cereals, honey, vanilla, mint, grassy. A pleasant nose.
Quite rough arrival. Lots of spices and oak wood. Time and some water help to open up. Then you get the things, that the nose promised.
sweet in the beginng with malt and apricot followed by pepper and tannins. A little bit bitter in the end.
- A nice nose and a whisky that is really good to drink.
Vanilla, honey, lemon juice, slightly kräutrig and grassy underneath, dry wood, flowery, behind back with beautiful spicy oak
Moderate onset, honey, oak spice, vanilla, citrus notes, slightly creamy
Tidy oak, light bitterness, lots of vanilla
- Nose: naturally vanilla, yoghurt sweetened with honey, overripe coconut, pear, oatmeal, light alcoholic sting Complacent and easy. Makes you feel like it and invites you to drink ^ ^
Taste: surprisingly sharp onset, fermented coconut milk, vanilla and sugar water, honey, sweets with a taste of tropical fruits - what a cool start and taste. The finish is then rather boring with lots of sweetness hardly oak and relatively short stamina. Unfortunately, the alcohol is not optimally involved. Is just something to drink comfortably.
Conclusion: Simple and honest malt that is well suited to bring people closer to the Bourbon Cask maturation. One can only expect no miracles from that.
