  3. ffmdino did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

it is very similar to the Fighting Fish
    he needs water
no malt for me - has too much barrel influence
    • Nose
Sherry, oak, very spicy, slightly chemical, slightly sulfur, tart, chocolate ~ 60%, slightly fleshy, tart herbs, slightly paper, slightly nutty, leaves from the tree, very old and wrinkled raisins
with water: slightly fleshy, dark tart berries, nutty, oak tanine

from 1920s: heavy, full of oak !!, tart, the alcohol stings a bit, sweet red fruit, heavy floral scent
with water: cola, slightly solvent, conifer scent, some moss (great), a note that I can't name
    • Taste
      full, strong, with a thump
spicy, sherry (over - too much, sour), slightly raisins, oak board (bad), chocolate ~ 65%, ash

with water: gravy, chocolate ~ 75%, slightly gummy
    • Finish
      Oak, tart, espresso

with water: extremely tart, coffee (burnt)

  4. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Dark fruits, intense sherry, well balanced, a bit of leather, very nice

  5. Macallan1968 scored this whisky 97 points Expert Senior

Wow, what a sherry board, sensationally without bitterness!

The alcohol is very well integrated and despite 52.1% you do not need water here. This malt comes in the Sherry Whisky's Hall of Fame.

Anyone who likes sherry must definitely try this whisky. I like to drink Glendronach 18, but this one tops him by a long shot. A single revelation! I can hardly imagine that sherry whisky can taste even better, more intense and almost without bitterness. That's why I get 98 points.

No doubt it's a sherry bomb - not too sweet but going more into the rubbery style - swims very well with water
    • Nose
Intense, dried fruits, raisins, sherry, rubber, cloves - pretty good
    • Taste
Punchy, oily, subtle sweetness, sherry wood, dried dark fruits, dark chocolate, coffee, hints of cooked oranges too
    • Finish
Medium long, warm, coffee, chocolate, and some rubber
