    Some smoke and sweetness. Not as bad as partially rated.
    • Nose
      80 80
      Some malt. Heather comes to the nose. Pear and apple notes. Vanilla and something buttery are also added. Smoke can be seen minimally.
    • Taste
      83 83
      The smoke is more present here. Some gum is also noticeable. Apple and citrus fruits are on the palate here. The taste is rounded off with notes of wood and pepper.
    • Finish
      82 82
      Long finish. Smoked bacon and some sweetness can be seen.

    COLOR: white wine

    - a smoky whisky that doesn't smoke
    tastes really good, from the point of view of the smoke also rather that
    Towards cold ash smoke, freshly extinguished fire
    - but unfortunately far away from delicious or pleasant, unfortunately neither the LEGEND, nor the CELT or MYTH could really convince me ... what a shame
    • Nose
      fresh citrus fruits, citrus scent like a "floor cleaner" (positive meaning)
    • Taste
      a strong, strong start, clear smoke development, cold swelling smoke, citrus, wood
    • Finish
      short and powerful finish;
      medium-long smoky aftertaste

    Preface:
    in my evaluation table, average whiskys get 60 - 70 points;
    The CELT is a young, at best average single malt - cold smoke is particularly evident in the taste!
    [Color:] = white wine;
    • Nose
      64 64
      fresh citrus fruits, reminiscent of "floor cleaner";
    • Taste
      65 65
      strong, strong start, cold swelling smoke, distinct smoke development, citrus fruits, pears, some wood;
    • Finish
      63 63
      medium length, citrus-fruity, also with cold smoke aftertaste;

    My 2nd Penderyn (with 176917 being my 1st), received as a sample from a dear friend. This can be summarized in very few words: A fruity shot, youthful and immature. The nose does smell a small hint of peatiness, but my tongue doesn't really taste any at all. Very weak ABC, and thus in accordance with its 41.0%. Soft and short finish. The taste doesn't stay long in the mouth. It comes and goes. It was a nice experience.

    • Nose
      Citrus, pear, apple, orange
    • Taste
      Vanilla, fruit, menthol
    • Finish
      Medium long and fruity

      Very fruity malt, the distillery character is very clear.

    Overall, I would say that he would pass as a good fruit brandy at any blind tasting. For me it has full justification as a summer whisky, and is always shortlisted when I feel like light fruits. Dilution no more than dropwise, otherwise it will immediately become watery.

      The cork immediately suggests plum aromas. The color is straw yellow or like a Riesling. Hardly any streaks form on the glass. The aroma unpacks the whole fruit basket: first grapes, then pears, apples - a dash of lemon can be guessed at. Everything is rather fresh and not fermented. Oops - is there a bit of UHU glue in between?
    • Taste
      75 75
      The first sip confirms the fruit and even more sweetness is added. Noticeable alcoholic spiciness - some might say liveliness - but not unpleasant. There is now some vanilla to discover.
    • Finish
      72 72
      The finish is medium long and loses its fruitiness. But more oak comes through and finally a touch of smoke.

    Fruity with moderate smokiness. Young and has a short finish. Unusual to have a (slightly) smoky Penderyn, doesn't excel but decent enough for the low price point.

    Bott code 80731 was tasted. Youthful and fresh, immature. According to Michael Jackson (3rd edition 2017), the entire stock is filled month by month, so that changes are easy to explain. The peat barrels (quarter casks from Laphroaig according to unsecured information elsewhere) are slowly becoming leached out, so that this bottle had no peat / smoke notes.
