Very great 8 year old, on the one hand shows how good young could be at that time, but 88P are definitely too much, you can taste the young age yet. But great round and fruity.
    • Nose
Red grapes, the kernels with, sherry oak, dark honey, cinnamon, beautiful chocolate, red apple, cardamom
    • Taste
A lot of red apple, cherry, beautiful young sherry aromas with oldschool aftertaste, plums, toffee, spicy young oak wrapped in honey, candy and a little young metallic in between, citrus too
    • Finish
Dry, here comes a little cardboardvintage, young oak, apple peel, honey

Great taste experience for 8 years and 43%.
    • Nose
      89 89
Light menthol note, sage candy, perfectly balanced, apple pie, cracked After Eight slice
    • Taste
      89 89
Rather thin in the mouth, but apart from the texture it is still an intense experience with cough syrup Maggi Umaminoten.
    • Finish
      88 88
Ends with a gentle herbal note and then quickly decreases in intensity.

Nose: Sherry, grapefruit, notes of vanilla, the smell of old school feel.
Taste: From the first sips you can feel the taste of figs, wood with the addition of black pepper and nutmeg. The whole flavor is quite juicy and smooth.
Rating: 88 | 100 Sweet finish with light salty / peppery aromas. Generally, this whisky has a better aroma than taste. Of course, the whole thing is ok. If the taste was at the level of the smell, it would be a real bomb!

it had been open for quite some time, so maybe it has lost its strength, but it was a bit thin and we just expected more.

Both Photos seem to be the Grudi Import. If this version´s WB page is meant for the regular one, there should be no bottom text on the label print.

    Colour:
    Corn yellow
    Nose:
Rather green nose with fruity lime, kiwi and avocado. Fine leather aromas are in harmony with vanilla, a delicate spice and bland wood.
    Taste:
Starting spicy right away. The freshness goes hand in hand with tart notes of garden herbs. Almost nothing can be tasted of fruit. What remains are wood, honey, vanilla and leather notes, which are underlaid throughout with a salty and cool layer.
    Finish:
Medium-length - now sweeter here. Fresh, cool notes of mint, wood freshness and cough drops brighten the finish, which ends with a sticky, sweet finish.

[October, 2017]  Another find in my sample library from a time when I did neither tasting notes nor scores yet.  So I do this some 20+ years later now...

The colour is old gold and the texture shows many small tears that build some medium fast legs and later fat sticky tears.  The nose is barley sweet first but then develops a herbal-fruity profile that is quite interesting.  Obviously there were some sherry casks in this batch and some OBFs are there, too.  It arrives on the palate warming and a little coating with some peppery moments.  The taste is sweeter than the nose on a  lot of different fruits, sherry (chocolatey) flavours and spicy wooden notes with a slight adstringent feeling (cold metals) that is not annoying.  All nicely balanced.  The finish is even sweeter and of medium length with no bitter but a minor drying feeling (cardboardy).  Water is not needed as it just flattens the dram.

A pretty nice old young whisky but I am sure they added some older underproof casks to this batch as well (a practice that was quite usual during older times).  Easy to sip and a good example of an "old style whisky"...

Quite a spectacular OB Glengoyne from the past. Superb nose!
    • Nose
Typical old skool nose from whisky's I tasted from the 1950's and even earlier. Dusty sweetness. Delicate oak. Oranges and marmelade. Hints of sherry? Mint. Some herbal notes as well.
    • Taste
Juicy and smooth. Figs and dates. Nutiness and wood. Spicy notes of black pepper and nutmeg. Becomes very salty later on.
    • Finish
Medium long. Bitter-sweetness and salt again.

soft sherry, fruits, complex, but lighter body than expected
    • Finish
soft sherry, wood, less fruity, longer
