    My second Deanston. I like this stuff. Tasted a sample on day eight of the US Blind Tasting Competition 2017. My guess was a Tullibardin 18-yo @ 55%.
    • Nose
      Ripe red fruit with wine, dark sugar, leather, old rotting wood, some mint
    • Taste
      Thick and oily red fruits, dark sugar, leather, musty wood
    • Finish
      Medium long. Not bitter, slightly drying. Leather into waves of overripe red fruit.

    A complete an utter lack of balance as a whole, as well as an immature and aggressive palate. It's as if there was a few liters of wine gone bad in the cask. 
    • Nose
      Some wood polish, but also vibrant red fruits, lots of balsamic, a whiff of straw, and some cocoa powder as well. Sulphur. Funky. Too funky. Some rancid butter notes and sour, sweaty feet. Something is very wrong here.
    • Taste
      A warming and spicy arrival, with cloves and pepper. Also sour cherries, cassis. Dry and oaky and bitter too. Unpolished and immature.
    • Finish
      Long, spicy, dry and fading red fruits.

    Tasted as part of the Blind Tasting 2017.
    • Nose
      Caramel, cherry, blueberry. A whiff sulphur, first like balloons and then like sauerkraut. Water makes it creamier and removes the sulphur.
    • Taste
      Blueberry, caramel, mocha, ashy peat, cough pastilles and a little banana. With water a little peach and pear, but also hazelnut.
    • Finish
      Toffee, mocha, cranberry, raisin, cherry, peat, liquorice, pepper and hazelnut.
