    Fiery beastie!
    Definitely a challenging one, youthfull spirit at full intensity. Lots of space to experiment with water.
    Tasted at Black Door, Helsinki.
    • Nose
      88 88
      Sulfur, lemongrass. Grapefruit oil, fresh ginger, coriander seed. Lemon sorbet, nutmeg, light sherry Dark wood. Very clean well defined notes on the nose.
    • Taste
      86 86
      Burning alcohol. Phosphorus, spent matches. Chili, cardamom. Desperate for water.
      With water: the phosphor remains up front and maltiness starts to appear.
    • Finish
      85 85
      Short, the alcohol burns out everything except for the oily woody mouthfeel.
      Water brings out the woody side of this malt. Lively spices, and paraffin like texture.

    Nicely sherried whisky, tasty and balanced. Requires dilution for better getting into it. Hard to find due to release limitation.
    • Nose
      Sherry, dried fruits, raisins, light smoke, caramel. Water opens fruity notes
    • Taste
      Slightly smoky, spicy (ginger), light minerality, honey, brown sugar
    • Finish
      Long, warm, somewhat nutty, sweet

    Talk about a challenging malt to score. Nose, taste, body, finish all very fine, but adding any water instantly shaves off 3-4 points. Hence an average of 86 on account of being a cask strength whisky but not being able to take any reduction.
    • Nose
      Without knowing the cask type, it's obvious this is sherried. Stewed fruit with that recognizable barky, turfy HP peat. Some ethanol pushes through every now and then but never in any amount that could be considered a flaw. Water amps the smoke and reduces the sherry influence, and more water makes it just meh.
    • Taste
      Neat the body is very much ready to go - astounding at over 60%. No overt sharpness, just this tasty, full red fruits and faint resins flavor with medium peat. Water shaves off a fair amount of the complexity and brings in some peaty roughness and bitterness.
    • Finish
      Cigarillos. Lots of cigarillos. One of the most obvious cigar leaf-type tastes I've ever encountered in any whisky.
