  1. L_Gillian scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

No signs of young age, quite austere, immense chalkiness sure makes for an interesting drink!
    • Nose
      87 87
A mellow yet lush floral undertone. Warm porridge drizzled with honey and fresh apple juice, some stewed red apples too, alongside white pepper. Hints of gravel and camphor.
    • Taste
      87 87
Austere and earthy. Very mineral tonic water, brown sugar, lemon zest and gravel. Gets immensely dry and chalky after some chewing.
    • Finish
      85 85
Honey-sweetened and short-lived. Perhaps a hint of ashy smoke when swallowing. Chalky texture covers the mouth.

  4. Wolfe Tone scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

A bit richer, creamier, and spicier than the standard 12. Good, not great. But pleasant enough. Not worth the high price imo.

  5. InbhirNis scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

I was pretty pleased with this, good but not great. Perhaps a little expensive (£80), but decent quality.
    • Nose
      87 87
Mineral at first, becoming fruity, with stewed apple. Nice balance, no overt signs of youth despite NAS. Lemon tart and wet canvas. Hint of camphor, some slightly sour wood, raisins, white pepper.
    • Taste
      86 86
Sharp attack, on pleasantly bitter apple. Good mouthfeel and power (I didn't need water), slightly fizzy. Chalky, custard, icing sugar, cedar, milk chocolate and wood spices.
    • Finish
      85 85
      Medium-short, clean, fizzy again.

  6. Rosebank88 scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Complex aromatic onset. On the one hand flowery flowering heather, on the other hand yeast, waxy fruits, dried fruit and a lot of heather honey. With time more oak, nuts, bouillon cubes, hay and dry sherry. With water softer and more like nuts, dried fruit, oak and spices.
    • Taste
Dry and concentrated. Oak, flowering heather, leather, earthy and violent notes, nuts, some smoke and an anabolic spice. More water with sherry, tobacco, nuts and floral notes.
    • Finish
Medium long, spicy, dry and sherrytönig. Then develop a flowery-smokey reverberation.

My very first impression was that it is a RL 12 with a higher abv. After only a little bit of time there is a big change though, The influence of the European Oak casks comes to the front. Nice development.
