Whisky Reviews for Gold Cock 1992
5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.14 points
- Aroma: Gold Cock does not smell, but compared to maybe 20 yo of 1995, the 49.2% I have at home is more prominent, fuller and more dense. Warm, with a tanned barrel, added herb wind, a plum of plum and plum. Very nice fragrance, fun and layered. (88 b)
Taste: Percentages are well patentable, nor did I try to dilute. Peacock flavor with plum brandy, a tanned barrel in the flavor, toastiness, strong dark chocolate, old wood and caramel darkness. (86 b)
Summary: A very similar 24-yo version for Black Stuff, but it smells even better.
- It´s very strong and distinctive whisky with unforgettable combinations of dried plums with pine needles. I don´t know, whether is more whisky or aged slivovitz, but i know it´s great!
Rich and full bodied aroma, high volume of alcohol, very fruity (especially dried plums), spicy (clove, cinnamon and cardamom), pine needles. Water highlites sweetness of fruit and cinnamon. Secondary aroma reveals plum jam.
Very, very sweet and fruity. Strong and piquant in the mouth with dried plums and old oak taste. Possibly with a bit of a hint of bitter chocolate. With water is more sweet (can take more water) and plums seems like more juicy.
Finish is medium long, very warm, sweetly woody with a feeling of dried plums aroma on the palate.
