Clynelish is a regular in my cabinet, as it's usually a lovely, good value sipper. Although I really liked this on as well, I've had better versions of their core expression. Especially the signature waxy-note was a bit subdued at first and it took about half an hour to start shining through.

Very fruity: melon, citrus (lime and oranges), apricot,... Also quite a lot of grainy notes, some vanilla, a faint wax note, a soft touch of white pepper and a little saltiness. All the way in the back I picked up a very light and faint woody bitterness. After adding a drop of water, the wood became more obvious.

A very nice and creamy moutfeel on the arrival. Then some more from the nose with the citrus notes, the wax being very faint and shy at first, but half an hour (!) in and it takes over and something earthy, peaty I didn't quite get on the nose. With water again the wood and wax notes becoming more apparent.

Not very long, not to say a bit on the short side, woody and dry, with an earthy note as well. With the added water it became less short, as the wax lingered on a bit longer.

Classic Clynelish. A little sweet, a little sherry influenced, and a bit waxy. A teaspoon of water makes the waxy character more clear.

Sweet and waxy again. A little more on the sherried side this one is. A teaspoon of water makes it more balanced with a little extra tropical fruit.

Medium. I think it is chill-filtered, which is a shame

medium length. Here are more bourbon influences to be found. So more vanilla and toffee.

This remains a rather good and decent priced Clynelish. There are a lot of more expensive and less quality OB's out there.

Well it is quite classic and balanced.
