I have enjoyed this whisky from the the first sip and it has been constantly great all the way to the last glass and I drank this bottle pretty fast which is always a good sign.
    • Nose
      91 91
Lots of sherry notes as you can imagine, stewed and dried fruits, plum, cherry, raspberries and blackberries. Old leather, tobacco, cranberry and toffee apple. Just a lovely sweet nose on it. Also opening an old wooden chest springs to mind.
    • Taste
      92 92
This isn't what you would call a sherry bomb, it's more like a sherry atom bomb. Is this more like sherry than whisky? Not to me. Along with the obvious sherry notes there is some dryness, but it's a lovely dryness that works well here. The dryness actually makes it quite succulent and spicy. Dried fruits in abundance. It reminds me of sucking on a sarsaparilla boiled sweet. Plus the high alc vol is the cherry on this fruit pudding.
    • Finish
      91 91
The finish is quite dry and astringent but it brings out the spices that just tickle the tongue. It's quite long and lingering.

  2. Kensay scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

excellent nose, bitter chocolate, spices, orange peel, raisins
the taste is not so enchanting, some spices, sweet tangerines, nuts and wine notes
the finish is long and pleasant, some spices, vanilla and wine notes

Good drinkable molt without high-profile claims

  3. DannyDram scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Overall a boring Glendronach. More like a blender that draws attention to itself at first with a pronounced sherry nose. However, gradually, especially when the complexity is reduced (within three months).
    • Nose
      89 89
Walnut, leather, tobacco, cider apple, some rubber. Medium intensity
    • Taste
      88 88
Stored wood, nutshell, light seasoning. Intensity just under to medium. The balance is okay.
    • Finish
      87 87
Leather, peppery, dry. Short to medium finish.
