Whisky Reviews for Ben Bracken Speyside Cd

  1. schengel10 scored this whisky 60 points Connoisseur

    A very young, thin whisky without off-flavors, but also without depth. At best, lower average. Price ok, you do not necessarily have to taste!
    • Nose
      very sweet, juicy fruity (apples?), fructose, malt;
    • Taste
      malty, fruity onset, thin, watery, apples, pears, clearly metallic youth, one-dimensional;
    • Finish
      sweet, very short finish; and gone!

  2. Syleo scored this whisky 65 points Expert Senior

    The unsurprisingly brightest of the three Lidl malts glows straw-golden in the glass and greets the nose sweetly and fruity. Canned fruit, apples, pears, peaches and cocktail cherries meet in Nimm-2 candies and lead floral to heather and rye crispbread. Vanilla ice cream and a woody note reminiscent of freshly split coconut pieces also evoke a slight bitterness.
    In the tasting the sweetness and the youthful bitterness meet again, the canned fruit together with the lightly metallic tin, cereals and heather honey on vanilla ice cream, which is, however, finally obliterated by nutshell bitterness. The finish does not last long, what is left is a certain malty bitterness.

    young NAS Speysider with some fruit and sweetness, quickly present and disappeared from all senses even faster.
    In a direct comparison to the Glenfarclas 12yo in a liter bottle and thus absolutely comparable in price, you can see the stark difference between a no-name single malt, which does not include anything, and a good branded product

      Light; first strong citrus note; then a touch of vanilla and malt, possibly a little honey. Everything is very discreet and in the background.
    • Taste
      70 70
      The taste is rather flat. After the fruity citrus note comes a very tender oak, but before that a delicate vanilla. After that comes minimal honey and a minimal Nussigkeit (almond?)
    • Finish
      78 78
      Some oak, then almond, clear almond and again a light citrus note. The almond has but clearly the nose in front. This strong almond surprised me positively, after the nose and the taste (both right weak and tender), the finish is really strong nutty.
