A whisky that takes time and attention to fully unveil!
    • Nose
      84 84
Good bite of alcohol, then arrives a procession of citrus fruits, between the grapefruit and the orange, and finally, after fifteen minutes, a sumptuous touch of crème brûlée enrobe all.
    • Taste
      90 90
Very soflty. The fineness of the distillate is very good with a good taste of sweet grain.
    • Finish
      88 88
A good length that leaves mainly sweet touches, vanilla with a hint of honey

Not very promising on the nose unless you consider "organic" as vegetables, much better on the palate and reminiscent of single grains
    • Nose
      82 82
Vanilla, leafy, vegetables, some green fruits, lemon peel, little floral, green house, nuts, sawdust, some tobacco
    • Taste
      85 85
Fruity, apple, peach, banana, honey, good sweetness, little leafy, some green fruits, spices, herbs, some austere notes, little grainy touch
    • Finish
      84 84
Medium long, warm, fruity, zesty, little herbal, austere

A beautiful, youthfully powerful and yet very balanced bottling with a great drinking strength.
    • Nose
      85 85
Very nice, fine and uncomplicated nose. Neat vanilla, citrus notes, pound cake, wax, rose water, hay, freshly cut twigs, green apples, malt, lemon balm, sage.
    • Taste
      85 85
Beautifully powerful in the beginning. Slightly oily body. Has a sparkling and invigorating effect. Fresh but also artificial citrus notes, caramel, barley sugar, vanilla, apples, sage, pastries, fine oak spice.
    • Finish
      84 84
Mid-length finish. Caramel, dust, earth, malt, soft pear.

Lime, oats, cardboard, crisp slightly sour apples, vanilla custard, creme brulee, citrus fruits, malt, earth, hay, a sprinkle of salt. The palate is sweeter and fruitier than the nose. The finish is quite long. A touch of water helps massively, and surprisingly adds a bit of heft to the texture. A very engaging whisky.

Bruichladdich The Organic 2009 - 2017, 8 years, 50% alc. Original bottling. Ageing: American oak, bourbon casks

Nose: Malt, lime and chalk meet dandelion and damp meadow, lemongrass. This is followed by various fruit aromas, including lime, kiwi and apples. With a little time the malt turns into biscuits, I find different biscuits.

Palate: Exciting, sweet and strong at the same time, slightly salty. Where do I begin…. Lemon candies and yellow gummy bears, some seawater and lychee. I also perceive an enigmatic vanilla throughout. I find the lemongrass again, but also lemon balm and sage, biscuits and dark bread.

Finish: Quite long, citrus fruits, malt and some aspirin.

Conclusion: Young, crisp and complex. Reminds me of one or the other whisky from Campbeltown, very successful. 87/100 points (2022)

A love it or hate it Bruichladdich. Good strength with a very sweet mouthfeel, a bit too much barley sugar for me. But you can still taste its new make flavours even if it's aged for 8 years, interesting.

    N 26
Fresh & clean. Citrusy & grassy. Barley sugar (new-make sweetness). A whiff of sea breeze. More umami when time passed.

    P 25
Rich & creamy. Very malty. Fresh hay. Touch of vanilla and peppery spices. Toasted oak. And more barley sugar.

    F 24
Mid finish. More toasted oak. Malty. Mild black pepper. Mildly fruity & sweet. A touch waxy towards the very end.

    Nose: bubblegum and French vanilla
Palate: Cream soda and bicarbonate of soda
    Finish: Nice biscuits

Well balanced, quite sweet (barley sugar) after adding enough water. Could be a bit more complex. Just taste-wise I'd give it 86 points, but since it's a good integrity bottling, organic, and not too expensive, it deserves more, IMHO.

The cereals, the earth, slightly damp, a few weeds, limestone, you would think you were caressing the humus, the barley sways in the wind, a grain of wheat, a tree leaf tears under the hand. A field in wet weather. Very peasant profile, small peasant. On the palate, very honeyed, barely lemon and vanilla, white fruits, dry finish, then finish once again earthy, leafy, deep, almost charcoal. Clay.

Very enjoyable summer dram. Strong minerality and some sweetness with honey, reminds me of some kid’s vitamins.

This was a bar sample acquired on Bruichladdich’s Feis Ile Open Day 2018, enjoyed in Campbeltown a year later.

C: A very giving solid performer with a wide spread of clean fresh summery offerings. That barley talks a good talk.
