Bruichladdich The Organic 2009 - 2017, 8 years, 50% alc. Original bottling. Ageing: American oak, bourbon casks
Nose: Malt, lime and chalk meet dandelion and damp meadow, lemongrass. This is followed by various fruit aromas, including lime, kiwi and apples. With a little time the malt turns into biscuits, I find different biscuits.
Palate: Exciting, sweet and strong at the same time, slightly salty. Where do I begin…. Lemon candies and yellow gummy bears, some seawater and lychee. I also perceive an enigmatic vanilla throughout. I find the lemongrass again, but also lemon balm and sage, biscuits and dark bread.
Finish: Quite long, citrus fruits, malt and some aspirin.
Conclusion: Young, crisp and complex. Reminds me of one or the other whisky from Campbeltown, very successful. 87/100 points (2022)
