Dusty grapes and dusty prunes. Dusty fresh plum. Suspiciously sweet plum taste with the same dust, tart. Ink at the end.

You have to sort through a lot of less-than-spectacular single cask whisky before you land on something like this.

It shows lovely spun sugar, caramel, peanut brittle aromas and flavours (with something a bit buttery in there as well). The mix of sweet & 'dry' sherry characteristics are well balanced & the alcohol is well integrated on the nose and palate.

Definitely more of a crowd-pleaser than something your nerdier malt-headed friends will get super excited about. Brainless delicious drinking all the same.

A good dram but not a high flyer.
    • Nose
Acid oak, leather, sherry, red fruits, marzipan, caramel, lemon, glue, varnish or paint?
    • Taste
Oily and soft, spicy oak, leather, lemon, very spicy red fruits, cedar or humidor, cinnamon and cloves.
    • Finish
Spicy with leather, sherry, sour oak.
