    1420) Cask No. 64.96, 2008, 9YO, Fruit & Spice Duality, Mannochmore Distillery, SMWS (P: Young & Spritely)

Day 27 of Lockdown - 13th April - Glad that my weight stays the same, been conscious with diet and daily exercises routine working out well so far. Broke by the time this MCO lifted, and last thing I want is to shop for new clothing.

N- Nectarine of thick honey crawling down on ripe juicy citrus, woods cedar ginger, heavy rusts with crushed nuts. Solid pools of naturally sweets and floral with spicy mid tones. Whiff of curious bonito right at the tail, wee odd it seems but integrated amicably to gives the otherwise sweet oriented aroma a gentle twist. (92/23)

P- Curious tangy bonito come fore, then sweet fruits and creamy spicy cola. Obvious cranberries build up, juvenile cough syrup, sweet medicinal and cosmopolitan. (91/22)

F- Long, macerated fresh cherries and cranberries. Moist Blackforest cake that we all like except this is the ultra spicy version. Delicate fruitiness shines under the eye watering strength. (93/23)

    CASK No. 64.96
SWEET, FRUITY & MELLOWCALMING AND CHARMING

We found the nose quite calming, with its gentle fruitiness (pear orchards in summer), subtle perfumes (hand cream, lip balm, talc) cocoa powder and vanilla custard slice. The palate was unexpectedly deep and intense – with pear, peach and raspberry jam fruitiness, salted caramel chocolate and manzanilla, then light cumin and fenugreek on the finish. The nose became even more inviting with water – jelly babies, orange blossom and magnolia, creamy vanilla and after dinner mints, with little hints of tobacco and pepper trailing behind. The reduced palate was sweeter, charming and very easy-drinking – juicy pear, peppered strawberries and fruit-flavoured churchwarden pipe tobacco.
