An idiosyncratic combination that would have more if it stayed longer. So it is a very volatile cream candy.
    • Nose
Right from the start, caramel cream dominates candy in the nose. Omnipresent, it also wraps around the still unmistakable Ben Nevis character: As if a rug lay over it.
    • Taste
The impression continues - This is unmistakably Ben Nevis, but this caramel cream candy is everywhere too.
This peculiar combination fades but then quickly, blindly I would have typed probably diluted to drinking strength BN.
    • Finish
      Away quickly

    What it needs is time.
When I just opened the bottle I was not very positive. About 85 points then.
I was especially disappointed with the promise of a finish that disappeared after a second. But then I put this bottle away for about 6 months. And when I brought it out again ...
    • Nose

Fruitiness. A nice juicy scent comes from the glass.
    • Taste
      87 87
Not much has changed in the taste itself. Quite a bit of fruit and the dirt that is characteristic of BN.
    • Finish
      89 89
And there he is. An explosion of tropical fruit, and it stays.
Nothing more for a second. Plenty of time to enjoy the typical BN profile.
If you have these in the cupboard, and you weren't impressed with the first glasses like me?
Put it away for a while. Oxygen works wonders for this one.

hmmm...it´s not bad but a little too mono. i like butterscotch, cream and bailey´s and all that, but my whisky should be a little more complex. 85/100
    • Nose
malty and a little spirity, butterscotch. I had sworn there´s a light sherry influence but as we know this whisky matured in bourbon casks. almost no fruit.

it stays rather spirity and the whole nose is a little disappointing I must say.                                              water does not improve it much.
    • Taste
I find this rather strong knowing the ABV is not that unhuman. the impression of the nose continues on the palate. good quality butterscotch, very creamy, bailey´s comes to my mind and there´s the distillery character which I always associate with japanese rice cake. found this in almost every ben nevisses. (what´s the plural of ben nevis?)

with water: the flavours become stronger though they don´t really change. is there a little pig tail of smoke? yes, I think so!
    • Finish
a little short on the same flavours
