Whisky Reviews for Talisker 18-year-old
6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.86 points
- This Tally has everything.
Maritime peat, fish oil, seashells, oyster, seaweed, brine, salt, lightly smoked fish.
Melon, fresh dates, figs, macadamia, sweet berries.
Musky oatmeal, wet barnyard, freshly cut grass, wet damp soil.
What else is there to ask for? All rounded.
- This was also tasted again as part of my little Talisker re-tasting. For me it represents the noticeable further development of the Talisker 10. Less smoky and not so salty, but much more fruity and complex. I even think of the lovely clementine fruity sweetness. I also like it quite well, especially on the palate. He is currently worth a good 87 WB points (87/88/87) (with a tendency to 88).
- Again and again I come back to Talisker 18, looking to find that which makes it such a loved whisky, and oddly, considering I like the 10 very much, I just can't find it.
The nose is lovely and appreciably different from Islay fares, the body is well rounded and displays enough characterestics of old whisky to please, and the entry is pleasant, but somehow it just never quite blooms on the palate as it promises, and the finish is hollow.
Overall it's a nice drink, but 10 costs half the money and pleases me more, so this one never quite makes it to the shopping cart.
