This is why we drink whisky from the past - an experience completely unlike anything being made today. A real character.
    • Nose
      90 90
Funky right up front, with a whiff of smoke, quickly overlaid with something like bitter celery (smells better than it sounds, but tells you you're not in Kansas any more). Gooseberry skin and tomato stalks, that latter becoming really pronounced and striking. Gets sweeter, with some furniture polish, but this is a deeply savory dram. Spices emerge, clove especially, herbal liqueurs and nettle.

Equally unusual-but-pleasant. Dusty, gravelly minerality, with more tomato stalks. Sweetens as it opens up, with more smoke emerging too. Achieves a nice balance after about half an hour, but also a tad short of oomph. Menthol, creamy, aniseed.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium, slight cardboard note at first, improving towards ashes.

  6. detachedblue scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
The nose is gentle and light, some dried pears and apple. Quite prominent metallic notes, copper. More bready notes after the first sip, come along with mint leaves, more oak spices.
    • Taste
The palate is quite lively, oily and intense, oak spices, dried oranges, paint, fresh herbs, sweet and refreshing. Becoming more and more sour and fruity, banana cream.
    • Finish
Quite long finish with oak spices, bay leaves, minty chocolates, salted beef.
