  1. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Unfortunately, the finish was very unpleasant, has a good 1-2 points deducted from the total value, otherwise a nice, round, but not outstanding whisky. Because of the end I like to avoid drinking it again.
    • Nose
Ah, great Arran fruitiness on the nose, freshest green and red apples, sweet, beautiful malt, brown sugar, pear, sweet grasses, macadamia nut, vanilla, subtle forest honey
    • Taste
Forest honey, hazelnut and walnut, red and green apples, pear, heather, fresh tobacco leaves, fresh cocoa beans, apricot, peach, nutmeg, oak with honey, lemon, fresh ginger and later some mint
    • Finish
Oily, unpleasant, strange, very intense malic acid in the finish and a bit of licorice with anise, modern sherry is very noticeable, medium length

    Arran 1996 'Peacock', 46%, OB 2009, Icon's of Arran, 6000 bottles
Sweet nose with fruity accents. The associations I have here first are sweet: vanilla, honey, hard strawberry sweets, raisins. Then the fruit follows: pink grapefruit, mandarin, banana. Candied ginger (once you have eaten, do not forget that), apple cinnamon. I also enjoy the latter, in addition to honey, vanilla and fruit. Pineapple, lime. Some cereals. And here too that slightly spicy. Pepper, and the cinnamon. Lively, stimulating. Not too long aftertaste on sweet fruit with a tuft of pepper. Fresh, smooth-drinking whisky, an ideal summer-frame seems to me. 83/100 http://onversneden.com/2011/01/14/arran-1996-%E2%80%98peacock%E2%80%99/

    The label says:

"The proud peacock that roams the grounds at The Isle of Arran Distillery has become an endearing symbol of our distinctive whisky. His vivid character is reflected in the glorious single malt, from 20 casks chosen exclusively by our distillery manager. This 1996 distillation, aged for 12 years, is typically Arran in style, with orchard fruits and rich vanilla sweetness followed by a spicy twist in the tail, resulting in a truly impressive display"

Well made and easy to drink Isle of Arran whisky.
    • Nose
Mellow, fresh and fruity with intensive notes of fresh peeled apples in the beginning. Then other flavors come up: Vanilla, oak and oatmeal gruel.
    • Taste
Smooth and fresh but surprisingly rich for the 46%. Vanilla, apple compote and spicy with ginger and plenty of white pepper. Slightly grainy in the background. Tasty.
    • Finish
Medium long, becoming more and more spicy.
