Whisky Reviews for Bunnahabhain 1978 DL
8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.79 points
- Radically dry sherry whisky, excellent aroma, full of shades and halftones, the taste / finish against its background is much simpler, almost no sweetness.
Open, wet, old solid furniture, forest leaves, herbarium, dried fruits - apples, raisins, prunes, bird cherry; old leather goods, fruit and wine notes, porto, light mineral shades, cola, puer, metal shavings.
Saturated, dry, oak, furniture lacquer, bird cherry, puer, burnt crackers, stout, sticky mineral-metallic notes.
Spicy, warming, dry, oak, burnt crackers, puer, fermented wort.
- A very successful drop from the house Laing!
As always (at the Old Malt Cask) is right price / performance
Spicy, lots of softwood, slightly snappy, spicy caramel, then also grapes, raisins and simmering plum jam.
Now looks milder, creamier.
Wood dries up and leaves more, a little orange peel and fresh pineapple.
Still spicy caramel, some vanilla and banana and a little mash.
Sweet-mild, more fruits, very ripe and sweet, honey, fruity sherry, then the brutal swing to wood, sharpness and bitterness.
Gets suddenly strength, pickled dark fruits, all with a sweet background, ashes, nutty bitterness, sparkling alive.
Pretty long, now it's smoking too!
Cereal, redcurrant juice, distinct nut, yet with an idiosyncratic aftertaste.
A few ethereal notes, ending with fruity bitterness, a dry wood-nut mixture and some moist smoke.
