Whisky Reviews for Orkney Single Malt 2004 W-F

9 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.32 points

Today 12.5. first tried, more accurate note will follow. But that's not worth 99 euros. Nice, solid stuff, but the 86 points I give him sometimes also get whiskys, which cost well less than half.

    Balance sheet - 22
Total 86-87, slightly closer to 87
The most interesting is that when I just opened the exotic, and tried it, I was almost sure that there the bourbon refill with its light fruits, freshness, fragility and initially he came to me at 88-89, and did not understand where the sherry was, especially not a profile. And after a few days I tried the breathe and sherry appeared, and the aroma and taste changed radically.
    • Nose
thick, viscous, honeycomb mixed with plum, a little spice and haze 21-22
    • Taste
plum, herbaceousness, spices, honey, rather fresh taste- 22
    • Finish
leaves in a tree with a smoke, a small bit of bitterness and fades - 21

Proper Highland Park. I mean... Orkney Single Malt. Good stuff, with a nice balance between the sherry cask and the spirit itself.
    • Nose
Very soft and gentle to start, with some smouldering embers. There's some peach here, as well as vibrant, zesty lemon peel. It has a more coastal side (seaweed) too. Yes, there is a whisper of gun powder, but instead of subtracting from the experience, it actually adds a layer.
    • Taste
An oily texture, with gentle peat, charcoal and soft minerals. The lemons make an encore here, but at least it has some friends in oranges and green apples. Again, some light sulphur, but nothing to worry too much about.
    • Finish
Long, with a light smokiness and soft citrus fruits.
