would drink it again - delicious

Hubertus says: "for someone who wants to approach the topic of smoke, a suitable whisky"
    • Nose
      nice musty smoke
The initial engine oil becomes cowshed after a while in the glass
      grassy hay
      clearly citrus flavors
      Salt too, but always cowshed
    • Taste
cool and smooth in the beginning
develops very pleasant in the mouth
      citrus flavors
      fruity bright
      Smoke - getting warm
      sugar water
Honey, herbs, oily on the palate, toffee
    • Finish
very sweet, like honey dissolved in some water
      a little tar and wood

  2. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Tasty, fits, fun, süffelsüffel ... for 40 ¬ - here with it!
    • Nose
First greet oily-dirty workshop cloths, tar, licorice, after a few minutes it's fresh-grassy-maritime with nougat, honey, earth - like
    • Taste
Wow, beautiful mouthfeel, like a spherical lollipop with layers of taste, on the outside shortly the oil flaps, then again tar / licorice, burnt biscuits, then nougat, dark chocolate, wood and greens, hard to explain, but that makes me really fun in the mouth
    • Finish
mjam, nut nougat, seeehr matching, warm sharpness, very dark, just not yet burnt cookies, a touch tar-licorice

    • Nose
Sweet smoke. Straw and hay. A little bit of iodine and salt.
    • Taste
very sweet, reminiscent of cotton candy. Now the smoke is in the background.
    • Finish
Now comes the smoke again and is super involved. Very nice, consistent finish of sweetness, smoke and light spice.

Mòine isn't nearly as smoky on the tongue as the nose and the marketing would lead you to believe. It's not a bad dram, but it's not particularly interesting either. I'd rather take a bottle of Talisker 10.

By the way, how do you pronounce this? Moi-ne? Muon? Meanie? Möön? Mon?
    • Nose
A simple one, with bundles of that Toiteach-style smoke that smells mostly of rubber boots, and some tacked on sherry notes. Then that unfortunate smell of poorly-made BBQ chips (think Estrella BBQ) you can sometimes find in less-than-stellar young sherried Islays (certain Kilchoman sherry casks come to mind). Not exactly my favourite, although not repulsive either. It's just that it smells more made than matured.
    • Taste
...? What happened to the peat? Who took it? The taste is curiously flat and inoffensive compared to what the nose promises. A faintly smoky, thoroughly sherry marinated dram with cheap milk chocolate, mulled wine, and some touches of spices. The body is tame and somewhat watery. In a blind setting I would have guessed the ABV to be 40 %.
    • Finish
Unremarkable and quick, leaving a wisp of greasy smoke behind.

I don’t like too much ash on my palate, a shame as I really like the nose.
    • Nose
First sniff reminds me of Kilchoman Sanaig. Smoke, quite a meaty smoke in fact, lemons, some seaweed.
    • Taste
Very salty, some ash, hints of wood. A bit flat.
    • Finish
An ashy smoke lingers, medium long.

Consistent smoker, with a balanced ratio of smoke, honey, citrus, spice. And for +/- 40 euros with very good PLV.
    • Nose
Smoke, dry campfire, with a musty aftertaste (which is pleasant and does not bother), behind it some honey and fresh citrus fruit.
    • Taste
Rather restrained start, the smoke is more in the background; then lime in some honey; Herbs.
    • Finish
At least medium, light smoke, honey and nougat, pleasant.

    Color: white wine (Chardonnay)
Nose: Fresh, spreading. Smoke (rather medicinal, but mild and pleasant), slightly sour wild strawberries, physalis, jackfruit, leather, forest honey. Everything very harmonious, not locked.
Palate: Mild, sweet, slightly acidic exotic fruit, neat smoke. No unpleasant youth. Zero.
Finish: sweet, smoky, exotic fruit, dry, slightly bitter. The smoke and the fruit stay long.

  9. Stanzeflasche scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

The nose is rather dry peat, chocolate, salt, fresh iodine, a touch of earth and honey. Some vegetal notes, some stone. The more we linger there, the more complex it is. On the palate, salted caramel mixes with chocolate and a high dose of pepper, which explodes in the final with peat. It is quite long in the mouth, the caramel is gradually transformed into a slight taste of fig. It is a relatively subtle whisky, rather successful.
