    [July, 2018]  I usually do not buy Irish whisky so this dram is from a sample swap.  Not much stated about the distillery on the label and tube but 26 years ago there were not many Irish distilleries active at all...

    The colour is amber and the texture shows fat tears with slow legs.  The nose offers a typical fruity Irish profile with different exotic and home-grown fruits and some earthy aromas (as if you dig in the garden soil).  It is pretty nice to sniff but not very much complex.  The mouthfeel is warming and a little coating but again very light, no distracting moments whatsoever.  The taste is barley sugary-sweet with lots of different fruits and some bitter wooden flavours that are fine to counter the enormous sweetness.  The finish is of medium length and adds more spices but still the dram stays very sweet.  One for ladies or men with a very sweet tooth.  Water is not needed as it just flattens the dram.

    This is a typical Irish whisky with that trademark fruity profile most of them own and it is easy quaffable, for sure.  But it is a little too simple and thin to be really great, so a dram to enjoy on a warm summer evening without analysis paralysis…

    PS:  I agree with lincolnimp that this is a Bushmills, most probably.

    Its a better version of Bushmills 21, which would make sense. Fruitier and not as polished - in a good way. Über fruity with plenty to like. It’s quite sweet, but that was most apparent on the palate. Definitely punches above it’s weight for abv. It was not available to me, but at its release price, it’s a great deal. A cork chucker. Thanks to my friend for the sample. Sláinte!

      Juicy, mineral, slightly chalky, crisp grapes (green and purple), kiwi, dragon fruit, lychee, mint, a little white pepper, a drop of honey and grass
    • Taste

      Juicy, but weak. A tad syrupy and very sweet. Craft paper. The fruits lose their luster before gaining momentum in the finish for a moment. I feel this is the weakest part of the dram by far.

      Quenching tropical fruit notes. Syrupy. Tart underripe mango, kiwi, orange, lychee, grapes. Grassy. Starts big and drops off fast. Still impressive for 40 abv.

    Very smooth, very refreshing, wonderful on the tongue, no bitter aftertaste, truly one of the smoothest whiskies I have ever tasted.

    Very fruity irish whisky
    • Nose
      90 90
      Smell: cream, honeydew, strawberry, melon peel, grassy wood, slightly wood chips, very typical Irish whisky fruit notes, plus some earthy texture;
    • Taste
      90 90
      Entrance: Gentle melon, juice of ripe fruits, grassy, lemon, balanced tannins from oak barrels, full and warm, especially suitable for winter drinking;
    • Finish
      87 87
      End rhyme: The tail is not long, but the fragrance is full and sweet.

    A 26 Year old Single Malt from Bushmills Distillery (distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2017) that was produced for Aldi and released in Ireland and the UK only.

    This was so good, so aromatic and very tasty. The best Irish whisky for the price point so the great score.

    this has been open just over a year now and glad to say the cork is good quality and really tight.
    I think it is even more fruity now and rounded, the air has certainly improved it so giving it an extra point, but its no 100 pointer lets get that one out the way but for quality and value it is really good.

    Aged Irish whisky is very very rare and most certainly very very expensive. This treasure was certainly one of the best value for money whiskies of all time and as such it should get one of the highest scores of all time.
