The 40% are ok, of course 43% maybe. 46% could also bring more aromas, but even at 40% a lot comes across.
The blend is not exactly a little smoky, which I think is very good. This Ballantine's is really complex and well made.
Not just for beginners.
Nice and smoky without exaggerating.
I already have something of marzipan & chocolate in my nose and it brings a certain "depth" that arouses curiosity.
Small drawback, the 40% vol. Is perhaps a little too little here. If you take a deep and long breath, the whiskey will end up losing flavors.
Nice smokiness here too.
Then chocolate and possibly juicy smoky dates. The alcohol tingles a bit, but it doesn't bother me.
Stays in the mouth for a long time.
Nice chocolate here too. The whiskey is still present for a relatively long time, fades over time. A great whiskey that doesn't overwhelm you but still gives you a certain complexity.
In my opinion, the whiskey is something for upscale beginners but also for someone who wants a nice harmony of Islay, Highland and Speyside whiskeys.
