For 3 years already amazingly round. Of course, there is a lack of complexity, and the youth, after all, is still going strong. With a few more years in the barrel he could be interesting.
    • Nose
      78 78
fruity and sweet; Apple; Pear; some honey; slightly malty; a touch of vanilla; fresh-fruity nose that covers well for only 3 years
    • Taste
      74 74
light and amazingly round; quite thin in the aroma; creamy-oily; slight fruitiness; becoming peppery and spicy; the youth is increasingly coming through
    • Finish
      74 74
      bitter-sweet sweetness; peppery; Ginger; marzipan

I only got a small 3cl sample and basically did not expect anything at all. But I was really pleasantly surprised!

In the nose a lot of apple, malt / cereal, yes: apple pastry. Add vanilla and a touch of interesting spiciness, which flashes for a moment.

Deliciously sweet in the mouth, mild but not lax, and on the finish again this slightly tannic spice. Possibly. Then it flashes a bit of metallic youth, which I did not find disturbing.

As I said: I did not expect anything from this young malt and therefore tried him "on the side". Since he really surprised me, I spontaneously write a review and shoot a decent 83 points from the hip.

    Keep it up!

Yes, three years and yes he may not be bad, but he is not good enough.
Some fruit that goes in the direction of pear and mirabelle. You do not notice the young age so much, but it's definitely there. Is more in the direction of Obstler and especially in the finish, the metallic youth but noticeably through.
You did not miss anything and you'd better wait a few more years.

N: Pink Zinfandel and confectionary candy with tight soft tannins. Bready shortbread over time.
T: Fairly resinous before the barley comes through. I find this batch a bit strange and ambivalent after the Mannochmore.
    F: A slightly congealed finish.
C: What’s sure is many new distilleries like Cotswold are producing really fine 3yo whisky. The discussion about where whisky designed to peak early can go in the future, however, is raised once again.

Really not bad for 3 years. I honestly did not expect much. But he has potential. That could certainly be quite good with a few years more.
    • Nose
Pear juice. Green gummy bears. White grapes. Immature pineapple. A little vanilla. Sprite. Fresh sawdust.
    • Taste
Relatively soft. I would not have expected that at the age. Relatively creamy. Toffee. Quince. Tangerine. Then the youth comes through. Ginger. To the end still roasted banana.
    • Finish
The ginger is still holding. Orange. Green tea.

It's good for 3 years, they probably got a neat fruity, not sprightly or metallic new make. As I said, I would have put him blind to Germany, not to Scotland. Frischgeschlüpfte distillery, red wine finish, Small Batch, 46% - so far are ~ € 45 quite under, as you get elsewhere worse and more expensive "baby whisky". I think at the distillery, I should definitely drop by later, if there's older stuff.
    • Nose
reminiscent of German fruit whisky with slight Auchentoshan and Penderyn impact: fruity, but somewhat artificial, chewing gum-like, apple, pear, cheap strawberry yoghurt ... behind then mild-sweet, caramel, malt, a little marzipan
    • Taste
not quite as fruity, but also here gum, to Toffifee, marzipan, milk coffee ... for 3 years pretty soft and round, there bites and scratch nothing
    • Finish
medium long, tart and sweet, molasses, some strawberry also shines through, and here comes a bit of pepper

    Chewing gum ball. Slight whisky

  10. pianoman scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Mild. Pickled pears, a little vanilla, potting soil. Green honeydew melon, freshly mown grass, malt beer.
    • Taste
Light. Malt, light honey, some pepper. Subtle strawberry, cappuccino.
