This whisky is spectacular and incredibly close to the same league as the epic 1970. There was plenty of cask re-racking, which anyone would be rightfully suspicious of but Bruichladdich has pulled it off sublimely. This is magnificent stuff and to say less would almost be churlish.
    • Nose
All kinds of tropical and berry fruits mashed into a compote with all kinds of pastry desserts. Strawberry, mango, peach, raspberry, vanilla icing, and toffee. Ever had empire biscuits? That Scottish cookie with jam and topped with icing sugar? Imagine if that was topped with a bunch of fruit and turned into a whisky. The burnt toffee/brown sugar notes really come through after some time in the glass.
    • Taste
The texture of this spirit is silky to a fault. It's almost like drinking a bourbon and reminds me of a particularly good bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel. Apricots, peaches, slight chocolate, and all those berry fruits again. Some maple syrup flavour is present as well.
    • Finish
This is where the Hidden Glory is. The finish is reminiscent of the 1970 to me. Gingery, slightly coastal salt, a little bit of dark chocolate, and a bit of earthy minty taste. It's luscious and causes you to salivate after swallowing, nothing about it is drying or overly oaky. Glorious.

old and dignified, really complex stuff. sweet, vanilla, some dark honey, grapes, moldy wine cellar, spices, bitter oak but really likeable. dark chocolate, fruity again, some citrus. that is really a rollercoaster ride. extremly well balanced. nose, taste and finish - for me all on the same high level. Fine dram to taste and enjoy! (WSZ18)

God damn, this is beautiful. All kinds of berries, and jams. With brown sugar with toffee, tastes like this used a 4 roses barrel? the oak in this tastes divine!

Ripe, set whisky. Great, mature, sweet ex-bourbon notes meet a very fine and elegant red wine finish. Nice berry fruit aromas and light acidity.
    Crunchy dry on the finish.

Big, bold and freaking delicious. The bourbon influence is loud and proud. My mouth started to salivate in anticipation for my wife's coconut banana rum bread with walnut flakes. On the buds it hits strong, and makes me think of a full frontal parkers heritage with a fruity finish.

Mad points for an insanely drinkable bottle.
