    • Nose
      Flowery, light smoke, mineral, limestone, lemongrass, black bread, cereals, cinnamon
    • Taste
      Mineral, sweet and maritime, alcohol very well integrated but strong, light spices, floral
    • Finish
      Sweet, oaky spice, very subtle smoke, mineral

    Slightly disappointing that this could not express more Highland Park and less cask influence. I cannot imagine that this was the best cask they could choose from or probably just a miss-hit between the large row a monthly 4.something turn-outs.

      Very fruity with lots of orange sweet. Are we sure this was a refill cask? A distant minerality, and after a while a hint of smoke. Not that much else. Water brings some more tropical fruits, fruit skins, and much more balance now. Still whispering with hints here and there. Lemon meringue, orange and carrot cake, creamy butter croissants, yoghurt and dill.

      Minerals, barley, beach pebbles. Still not much of the embers. Water brings more balance, a nice acidity and a surprising dryness. More oranges, maybe some other citrus fruits and a few earthy, leafy notes.

      The finish is zingy and persistent.

    A simple knit ex-bourbon malt, fresh maritime with an unusual minty note; I was not particularly impressed!

      Very restrained start, lemon, maritime notes, subtle smoke, malt, biscuits, butterscotch, heather, grass, meadow, salt;
    • Taste
      Smoke, malt, vanilla, lemon, salt, lime, coast, butterscotch, heather, mint!
    • Finish
      Medium long, dry, lots of tirades and salt (coast), mint;

    Solid whisky that does nothing wrong but doesn't really stand out either. Don't overthink it, enjoy it at the beach.

      Lemon slices with a very light touch of smoke. Above that lingers a floral note with vanilla and a salty breeze you might associate with an autumn walk on the beach.
    • Taste
      Salty liquorice with soft smoke. Thin mouth feel. Water improves the balance by introducing green tea, but the peat remains subdued.
    • Finish
      Getting dry quickly. You get more peat now, but it's still only "lightly peated" as suggested by the categorization over at SMWS.

    Some tendrils of nutty smoke drifted by and the incoming tide washed out our beach bonfire, but not before we enjoyed the salted prawns, followed by lemon ice-lollies and vanilla ice-cream. The palate, hot and lively initially, suggested rock-salt, heathery smoke and liquorice. Adding water brought intimations of sea breezes, dying embers and busy harbours to the nose, with additional notes of toasted coconut, cut grass and flowers appearing. The palate now developed heather and lavender syrup, green tea and peat smoke – an interesting mix of sweet and juicy in the mouth, but becoming dry and smoky as it evaporated.
