[May, 2018]  A quick review of a small sample.

The colour is deep copper and the texture shows small tears that consolidate to a sticky ring and later fat tears with very slow legs.  The nose is typical grainy and wooden-driven but with an interesting profile, actually I like it.  The dram arrives warming and slightly coating on the peppery with some peppery moments, not too bad either!  The taste is sweet, grainy and with some delicious fruity flavours beside the wood, and it is balanced.  It is nicely chewable and offers more flavours and aromas over time.  The finish is long and more spicy-wooden driven than the taste but without dominating the other flavours too much.  Water smoothes the dram but releases more bitter-wooden notes that I do not like (what happens often with heavy-sherried drams).

From time to time I enjoy such a grain whisky but usually the grainy flavours are not the ones I like most, that is why I am in malt whisky instead.  This one is pretty fine and enjoyable, nonetheless I would not ask for a second dram...

The sherrycask dominates here, putting the specific grainy elements more to the back. Which is not all bad because still an enjoyable whisky remains.

Sweet and fruity, licorice, tea as well, and spicy, cinnamon. Some prunes and coffee, with some vanilla underneath. Later on some raisins.

Strong, pretty much pepper on the tongue, coffee, prunes. A lot of sherrycask influence, with again some vanilla and grainy notes underneath. Chocolate as well.

Still pretty strong, a little less pepper now, coffee, prunes, chocolate. Pretty long.

The nose is the best part, in taste it couldn't convince me.
I've seen better Cambus bottled recently.
