[February, 2018]  A quick review of a sample provided by a friend.

The colour is deep copper and the texture shows tears with medium fast legs.  The nose is winey-sweet with aromas of different berries and some spices.  Actually, the wine contributed much more to the aromas than the malt what is fine if you like such wines.  It arrives a little hot and peppery in the mouth with a minor adstringent feeling that often comes with heavy wine finishes (due to the acidity of the wine).  The taste itself is again dominated by the wine flavours that come across somewhat bitter and punchy but nevertheless delicate.  The finish is short and not remarkable.  Water turns the dram smoother and more appoachable as it takes out some of the bitterness and acidity of the wine.  I like it best a little reduced.

This is a typical example of a modern designed whisky where they add strong flavours (here from one of the heaviest french red wines available) to a rather unimpressive malt that is completely buried under the wine flavours.  It is absolutely okay to drink (provided you like these wines) but I do not enjoy this as a malt (rather as a fortified wine)...

Tasty-tasty fruit whisky, a lot better than Tullibardine's standard NAS finishes, bargain at around $ 50 (depending on the personal value of the TWS club membership), and the packaging is real an eye-catcher (gloss and gold print, lined with black velvet), makes a wonderful gift, which is likely to taste good. Unfortunately * * only * available with club membership, otherwise I would have ordered 3 more, for me, for the whisky bar, for Vaddern at Christmas ...
    • Nose
When pouring I am reminded of red DDR shower (Kremlsekt, Leninbrause ;-)). In the glass then intense fresh-sweet-fruity, a mixture of sweetened strawberries (very sugary), raspberry syrup, red groats. Later, sawdust and a hint of milk chocolate are added.
    • Taste
Take 2 Mon Chérie, a brandy bean and half an after eight, and chew vigorously, add a knife tip of sawdust and black pepper. ;-)
      Tasty & tasty!
    • Finish
Medium to long, first cherry liqueur, then dark chocolate and peppery warm.

A great whisky with elegant, subtle aromas and a great color. The best red wine ripening I've tasted so far. Each sip a little tour of the Christmas market - 10.11.2017
    • Nose
The wine note comes through clearly, dark red grapes, cherries, red berries, slightly musty and old, yet elegant and delicate, Christmas, mulled wine, cinnamon, mocha
    • Taste
Very pleasant mouthfeel, deep red dark fruits and berries, pomegranate, cherry, coffee bean wrapped in chocolate, cotton candy, roasted almonds, light pleasant alcohol, ginger, spices, milk coffee

    Chapeau Monsieur Lüning!

Once again a successful club bottle. Again, the special incentive of an exclusive bottling of www.whisky.de

In addition to the gimmick of an unusually luxurious package in this price range, it also has an "exotic" wine barrel finish. Unusually also, that the first maturity phase took place in a firstfill bourbon barrel. So the finish did not have the purpose, as so often, of piling up a weakly matured whisky from an inactive cask, but here the achievement of an overall composition was obviously the goal. In addition, almost 13 years of age are doing quite well.

It turns out in my very personal opinion this time that www.whisky.de club bottlings seem to traditionally rated too bad. Apparently lacking the courage to give higher ratings for a "feed bottle". Anyway, this is already the third club bottle, in which I wonder about low ratings. I think that this bottle was again very well selected and for a relatively low price not only enjoyment, but also offers an interesting experience.

The often for me "critical" or even negative sides of a red wine fassreifung I can not recognize, but beautiful red berry fruitiness, slight impression of exotic spices, only very slight spicy wood next to the translucent, typical impressions from the first FF Bourbon barrel. The "composition" is well done.
But the special twist of this bottling is a very interesting, very difficult to describe "pseudo-smokiness", which gives the whisky a high recognition factor, gives it depth and makes it very interesting in the end. Very good value of price and taste.

a red wine finish that is clearly perceived as such - dominance of fruity red wine - for the price a sensational visual presentation with a high-end box

Overripe strawberries, rose wine, red fruit jelly with vanilla and cream, Hiombber cream candy, red currants
    • Taste
      85 85
In the mouth, the red wine note is even clearer - tasty and creamy, berry - if it stands in the glass for a long time, a sour touch is added, the wooden barrel suggests itself in the background
    • Finish
      85 85
rather short finish - the fruitiness of red berries, reduced-sugar Eckes Edelkirsch liqueur

Pretty sweet in the nose. Very tasty and astringent in the taste.
The departure is unfortunately a little too short. The best is the taste.
