I don't understand the low score, such a nice dram with a firm kick for such a low price.

Delicious. Very sweet, perhaps right on the edge for me, but the somehow-refreshing nature of this dram helps to counterbalance that. I love all the floral and citrusy notes, and that buttery richness holding it all together. I feel like there are about 5 different tropical-spice-ish flavours in here that I can’t quite put my finger on. Very cool. I tried this blind and had no clue what it was, and certainly didn't pick out a wine finish.

Nose: Sweet and creamy. I mean that literally: it smells like fresh cream, almost getting towards cream cheese or yogurt. Floral and fragrant too – some kind of tropical fruit, some pomelo, wildflowers, cardamom, white tea, and honeycomb. Decadent notes of brioche, toffee, coffee ice cream, and crème brûlée. Cooler notes of cucumber, honeydew, and some grass. There’s a tiny bit of a savoury roasted something-or-other if I look hard enough.

Palate: Rich texture. Flowing melted butter and honey on the arrival, without any of that funk from the nose. Rich cream and spice on the development, with well-browned pastries, butter tarts, cinnamon and vanilla. Some more pomelo and grapefruit zest, as well as white cherries and almonds. Loads of dried rose petals in the middle, accompanying some slightly firm but fragrant oak. There’s a zing of white pepper and ginger, fading away to orange blossom.

Finish: Medium-length and creamy. Interesting exotic wood notes, vanilla, dried pear chips, cardamom, and navel orange. Matcha, honey, white chocolate, butter, and mild ginger.

This dram gets better at the end. Before that just too much and too much enginered with the wine cask.

In my opinion the casks have been burned way to harsh. There is a very ashy nose in this one. Like you're  smelling an ashtray
