Colour: pale straw
Nose: nastily sweet; fermenting apples - a really thick alcoholic sweetness. Some mustiness; burlap. Honey, vanilla and some nuttiness too (walnut, hazelnut, cashew - a real mix). Marzipan, cotton candy, marshmallows. With water also some oranges coming forward.
Taste: thank God this is much better. Thick, oily, creamy mouthfeel. Anise! Nutty too, hoppy as well (thanks Thijs100). Blood oranges, which become more mellow (towards normal oranges) when a bit of water is added.
Finish: blood oranges going towards grapefruit bitterness, weirdly mixed with the thick honied sweetness from the nose again. Icing sugar, marzipan.
The nose is off, then the palate has a great creaminess, but the finish goes back to the nose again. Interesting for sure, but not balanced. Better with a splash of water.
25-points score: Nose: 19/20 / Taste: 21/22 / Finish: 21 / Balance: 18.
