61.2%, go up. Razor-sharp but also floral and fruity on the nose. Yellow fruit, pineapple predominates. At the first careful sip, the fruit remains and becomes a full bowl, banana, mango - but also some coffee, caramel and cocoa. Later that stubborn spicy note persists and sweet tobacco comes through. The finish is short, sharp and dry. I do my best, but those ABVs of around 60% drink, I think that's quite a challenge.
A good splash of water and fifteen minutes of patience is worthwhile. Much more accessible now, softly sweet, mild and spicy - the tobacco remains. It is a pleasant glass of whisky. I do not understand those CS releases. That tampering with water would rather have the Master Distiller determine a good ABV - 46% would have been fine, I suspect.

    Colour: pale straw
Nose: nastily sweet; fermenting apples - a really thick alcoholic sweetness. Some mustiness; burlap. Honey, vanilla and some nuttiness too (walnut, hazelnut, cashew - a real mix). Marzipan, cotton candy, marshmallows. With water also some oranges coming forward.
Taste: thank God this is much better. Thick, oily, creamy mouthfeel. Anise! Nutty too, hoppy as well (thanks Thijs100). Blood oranges, which become more mellow (towards normal oranges) when a bit of water is added.
Finish: blood oranges going towards grapefruit bitterness, weirdly mixed with the thick honied sweetness from the nose again. Icing sugar, marzipan.

The nose is off, then the palate has a great creaminess, but the finish goes back to the nose again. Interesting for sure, but not balanced. Better with a splash of water.

    25-points score: Nose: 19/20 / Taste: 21/22 / Finish: 21 / Balance: 18.

    Tasted 31/10/2019 in a 3006 Whisky line-up (WB ID's 23887 / 102560 / 102559 / 103073).

    • Nose
Fruity from the get-go, with an apple cider like aroma popping up from the glass, accompanied by white grapes. There's also a fair amount of vanilla sweetness, as well as some cotton candy, cookie dough and icing. Finally a very light mineral touch with a whiff of burlap. Water brings out more of an orange-y aroma.
    • Taste
Nice thick mouthfeel. A spicy (white pepper, nutmeg) and nutty (roasted peanuts) arrival. A whisper a ginger too. A tad aggressive at first, probably in part due to the high alcohol percentage. Adding water and waiting a little while remedies that, making way for soft citrus fruits and some hops, bringing a bit more balance to it all.
    • Finish
Returning to the fruity and sweet signature I already experienced on the nose, although a little less explicit here.

Delicious nose! Sweet spring tones: honey, flowers. Nice spicy bite and nice full body, Finish could be a little longer. Price quality ratio is more than good. Very friendly priced for such a nice whisky
