But is it worth the price?
There's a touch of Laphroaig and a lot of HP on the nose.
Some of it carry over to the pallate, but it takes a dive midway. Not sure if it is the grain or one of the other malts kicking in, but it's pretty dominant from there on and out.
The second dram is not as bad, or surpricing, as the first.
So, will I have problems finishing the bottle? No.
Will I buy another one? No.
The nose is a gentle mix of honey, sweet yellow fruit candy and a little peat. Focus on the fruit and it's a little apricot and a little papaya. It's been sitting 3 weeks just below the neck, and I think the peat has softened a lot from the neck pour.
Good, sweet, almost oily texture on arrival. Nice moderate build up of spice. It starts off very much like a decent HP, but then it veers off to what I find a bit weird astringent peat and oak with a metallic note.
Dry oak and the metallic peat note.
Medium lenght, ever more drying as it fades.
