Whisky Reviews for Glendronach 1993

- Pfew. Quite a cask they selected. Probably my favorite ‘93 Single Cask from Glendronach. This is such a complex and ever evolving dram that delivers on all the flavors you associate with an oloroso sherried Glendronach from the famous '93 vintage. Dried fruits, fresh fruits, spices, coffee, sweets, chocolates, leathery, lovely old wood. This lets you sit down and mesmerise for hours sniffing and tasting. Every zip swallowed leaves you with an everlasting finish. Superb!
- Bääääm - a real added value compared to the standards - beautiful sherry board
super-tight sherry nose, passed berries - quite acidic, grape seeds and grape stalks, very oily, wax, orange oil, some delicious match sulfur, cherry jam, plum jam, powdered sugar, meringue wood, orange blossom, vanilla
A HolzBeerenKonzentrat - dense, oily, very dark fruity, very dense, dry dark oak wood, furniture polish, shoe polish, dark chocolate, yummy light sulfur note, balsamic
long, with lots of wood, wax and still fruity
A dream nose with a few drops of water.
I could smell it forever.
At the beginning a slightly musty stone vaulted cellar. Sherry. Dark berries, juicy ripe oranges.
Then gradually a spicy note is added. I always end up with nutmeg, a touch of lovage with black pepper.
I would find much more but now I want to try it
Immediate salivation. First, the sweetie strikes fully. Sticky, honey, the ripe orange again. Dark berries. Light tingling on the tongue, the alcohol is very well integrated. In fact, I hardly have any wood. The fruity sherry note lasts and lasts.
Wow ..... immediately makes you want a second sip!
First the fruity sweetness. This also lasts for a very, very long time. At the very end there is some wood and a pleasant bitterness.
I do not know what the issue price of this bottle was, but I envy everyone who can own a whole bottle of it.
Has convinced me in every way. Unfortunately, the sample is now empty

"Celebrating 10 Years Online we requested another cask from GlenDronach and they delivered with an absolute stunner of a single cask with a 1993 vintage.
Whilst it's not bottled yet - at the last gauging it was around 410 bottles. Due to be bottled end October.
Full term maturation in an Oloroso Cask Cask Number: 653. Date Distilled in 19/03/1993. Bottled 2017 at Cask Strength.
Tasting notes: Sticky toffee, treacle, maraschino cherries, leather, linseed oil and dark chocolate . Palate - Intense oaky notes punctuated by a dark chocolate, orange oil, cherry syrup and ash brooding.
Distilled and bottled at GlenDronach Distillery."
- Sister cask to Abbey Whisky #652 at 60.6%. From announcement to out-of-stock in about 45 min. If this was anything like the Abbey, I can see why.
