Supremely fruity. Mango, pink grapefruit and lemon peel, softened by a touch of vanilla and honey. But the sherry influence is evident too, with cocoa powder and an array of fruits (strawberries and blackcurrants, for example). It truly is a wonderful blend of aromas of the two earlier releases.

Taste

Crazy fruity again. Lots of grapefruit and nectarines, but the lemon also makes a comeback. While there's less bourbon matured Inchmurrin in here, it does seem to have quite a big influence. Might be the extremely fruity distillate though. There is however some milk chocolate, licorice, raspberries and cherry syrup, as well as a mild spiciness.

Finish

Fruit juice with a hint of chocolate... Long...

Comments

Great experiment by the WhiskyNerds. The ex-sherry cask really does lift the ex-bourbon cask to new heights. A great blend of the characters of the two previous releases.

Tasted after the Bourbon & Sherry releases

Nose : The bourbon won the fight here but by a small margin. Apricots, citrus and spices are on the front stage but the dried fruits and berries are pushing.

Mouth : Bourbon under the spotlights again. Very fruity, slightly creamy and spicy. Grapefruits, passion fruits, berries. Very juicy. Pepper, ginger. Chocolate. A bit of oak.

Finish : Long, fruity, juicy, chocolate.

Not the first time this kind of experiment is done but great choice anyway. The best of both worlds if I dare say.

Comparing this married sherry/bourbon cask bottling to the previous Whiskynerds bottling that was just sherried, this one seems fresher, more inviting, more immediately fruity. Just like that one, if you were to tell me that this is an excellent 20-something year old Irish, I would totally believe you. The sherried cask bottling is a bit darker, more brooding, but no less excellent. I would give this the same score: 91. But to be honest, if you would have me choose this bottle or the sherried version, I would choose this one :). So maybe 91.5 points.

initially I would have said "Irish", quite some bourbonny aromas, but the sherry influence is obvious. complex fruitiness and it´s really hard to seperate. pineapples, mangos, golden raisins, perhaps banana. whiffs of mint

Taste

ohhh, it´s superb, really.
a blast of tropical fruits plus gooseberries and elderflower, accompanied by huge spiciness (please don ask which spices!).
I had sworn, this was Irish and I had sworn it was much older, though you cannot beat this freshness.
reminds me of high end german scheurebe wine.
and it is soft as silk even undiluted!

Finish

long, fruity, spicy.

Comments

what a lucky guy have I been to get one of the few bottles. I will make a few 20cl samples to keep them for later!

Nose

Grenadine syrup, blood orange, zure matten (sour candy), toffee, raisin and tobacco.

Taste

More of that blood orange, with sweet raspberry and cherry candy to balance it. Toffee and even a tad of smoke.

Finish

Cherry, blood orange, mocha, raisin and toffee.

Comments

Knowing that the former Littlemill stills are now at Loch Lomond, I've often been wondering when we'd get whiskies from that distillery tasting like Littlemill. Well, now they're here! Great stuff. 90/91.
