Jungle, old school sherry, Springbank honey mustard sherry vinaigrette but with nasty dirty Japanese rainforest. Wild forest mushrooms, all kinds of crystallized fungus, morels, truffles, balsamico.

N: Coal smoke, creosote, engine oil rag, earthy peat , deeper notes of Chrolophyll, mojito lime citrus, green apple, honeysuckle, lemon popsicle , pipe tobacco (sweet, slightly rancid), damp fur and back to salmiak and salt water, so intense and powerful yet balanced. 12/14

T: coal ash, popcorn , edamame, green apple, sea minerals (blue algae), old sackcloth, dank marmalade. stunningly interweaved peat , again power and balance. 12/14

F: everlasting ramazotti, salt water, violet lemonade and a myriad of small tertiary obscure flavours. 10/12

Perfectly balanced peat and smoke with sweetness, some fruitiness and meaty notes - delicious!

Head 2 head with the Longrow 1973 Samaroli at 48% I would rate this one at least as good if not even a bit better.

Intense, iodine, medicinal, peat, smoked ham and bacon, beef stock, some dried fruits, whiffs of acacia honey, hints of toffee and sherry wood, spices - excellent!

Oily, creamy, little liquorice, good sweetness, more dried fruits, honey, fine smoky peat and good peaty smoke, more meaty notes, little sherry wood, toffee - superb!

Very sherried. Fill level is a little below shoulder. Not great, but not too bad, considering.

Immediately reminiscent of old Brora, but quite sherried. Tarry, inky peat, good rubber, a cigar lounge leather chair. deep and brooding. Extremely enjoyable. Dark sherry notes. Blackberry, blueberry, dates, cocoa...wonderful combo. Amazing mini.

An example of top-notch sherried whisky. Not very peaty though. A dram deserves silence, better drink alone.
    • Nose
Fresh apple, rich plums and dried fruits, top-notch sherry, oily peaty backgrounds, buttery thick nose-feel, iodine, honey, soy sauce. A touch of farmy notes.
    • Taste
Treacle, rich brown sugar and dark sherry, very leathery and sweet, then some orange marmalade, fresh cut herbs, green banana.
    • Finish
Long, dates and burned molasses, top quality tea, buttermilk, dark chocolates.

My score of 93 points is for the sherried miniature version. NAS. 1973. 46%. OB.
