nice and round in a typical sherry variety

Sherry and floor wax, tangerine, herb candy, chamomile blossom, lychee, vanilla, blossom honey, canned peaches
    • Taste
      87 87
Beautifully integrated sherry, spicy herbs, a little lovage and the leaves of a celery bulb, thickened apricot chutney and orange compote - behind it earthy, almost dusty hints
    • Finish
      87 87
the dry fruit sweetness and the sherry cloud last surprisingly long

  6. Von Barton scored this whisky 89 points Expert Junior

A 20 year old Clynelish 1996 for LMDW, from a vatting of 2 sherry butt.

With an alcohol level of 48%, we do not notice the dilution, the alcohol being well integrated, but still very present.

On the nose, we first notice the sherry notes, but it does not take long for the Clynelish characteristics to emerge, with its mineral and waxy side.

There are notes of orange, and perhaps some black fruits, certainly coming from the sherry casks, which are in perfect balance with the mineral and slightly maritime distillate with its wax note.

A very good Clynelish, of a good age, and which was sold at a reasonable price compared to other Clynelish with similar characteristics.

  7. Andytka3 scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Grand marnier, the familiar bitter orange and grapefruit oil underlay with well manner sulphur, hints of nail polish and mineral smokes emerge on the medium sweet nutty finish.
