    A very beautiful highland park. With the character, they should simply bet on bourbon barrels much more often.

      Flowery sweetness, lemon drops, vanilla, fresh hay, frosting, a little mineral to maritime, a bit ashy in the background
    • Taste
      Sweet, more vanilla than in the nose, very creamy, perfect alcohol, effervescent powder, again a bit mineral, no bitterness
    • Finish
      Here are very light oak bitterness, very Springbank-like, beautiful mineral, the citrus notes are again very present, longer finish, without overstraining

    • Nose
      A fresh symbiosis of sweet, fruity and floral aromas stands out from my glass. Freshly squeezed lemon juice, cereals, mineral aromas and beautiful vanilla notes are additionally supported by light fruits, which easily drift off into the tropical spectrum. Pears, apricots, sugared pineapple, mangoes and a hint of blossom honey are perceptible. Hidden deep in the background is a tender smoke flag, which reminds me a little bit of cigar or pipe smoke. The alcohol (47.2%) makes itself felt very easily in the nose at first.
    • Taste
      Very creamy and intense. A wonderful sweetness runs down the cheeks, while on the tip of the tongue a delicate Pfeffrigkeit sets in and causes a slight tingle. Plenty of vanilla, citrus fruits, grains, unripe oranges, pineapple, mangoes and coconuts give the malt an enormous freshness and a sweet-tropical fruitiness. The alcohol content fits perfectly in terms of taste, the harmony and balance of the Highland Park is simply very good. The variety of flavors also gains in depth: mineral notes, hints of herbs, pleasant oak and fine cigar smoke set in the background a nice contrast to the sweet fruit.

      Medium long, sweet-spicy and warm. Slightly peppery and with many bright fruits, the well-balanced finish starts. Again I find citrus fruits, apricots, vanilla and mineral notes. The beautiful cigar smoke gains a little strength, but remains more in the background. Herbs and spicy oak let the malt slowly fade away and leave a minimal bitterness on the palate.

    Another quality malt from HP and this was a sample courtesy of Peatbogger. If you are looking for a high quality fruity malt, look no further.

      Sweet, and this time I mean sweet as in confectionery. Pear drops, vanilla, rhubarb and custard. More pear, in fact lots of pear. Really nice, i would never guess this was a HP. Creme brulee and banana on white bread.

      Everything on the nose just continues on the taste and it's fresh and vibrant. Fruit cocktail explosion. The 47% is just about spot on. It's funny because the flavours almost hold back and then all of a sudden bang, there you go I was just teasing you.

    For musicians, amps and equalisers maintain critical balance at high volume by finetuning musical frequencies – at Highland Park, our Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, does a similar job. FULL VOLUME was created using 100% ex-bourbon casks rather than our traditional sherryseasoned ones. During 1999, a combination of 481 casks – 200 litre barrels and 250 litre hogsheads – were filled at strengths of between 63.6% and 63.7%. The whisky was filtered at just over 4 C and delivers flavours of creamy vanilla and sweet citrus fruits from the bourbon casks, balanced by Highland Park’s characteristic aromatic smokiness.

    A successful highland park. Not very complex but tasty in what it offers. The higher alcohol strength suits him well. For me, compared to the new HP 15y (WID: 192350), it is a much better choice in a similar price range.
    For a large bottle (costs approx. 90 euros) the offer is not enough for me, even with this one.

    Without losing the thought of the "full volume", it is a 1A bourbon whisky!
    You shouldn't make the mistake of expecting something voluminous from this name. It definitely isn't. But a flowery Bourbon aged 17 with very good school grades. He deserves my full respect. This unfavorable name was certainly the only mistake in this edition. Because even the black gloss lacquer bottle looks extremely strong on the shelf.

      Wonderful summer nose with fresh lemon biscuits and a delicate hint of vanilla smoke. The herb flower meadow comes through slightly minerally and together with a light trail of smoke it then has a delicately maritime effect, as expected.
    • Taste
      The texture is exactly mine. Everything that belongs to bourbon whisky unfolds here. Very compact, it delivers clear vanilla butter biscuit notes with lots of lemon and round light oak pepper without missing notes. I really like that it stays so comfortable without hitting it. Actually, it does exactly the opposite of what the name suggests on the bottle. I am fully convinced of this palate and the transition is wonderfully harmonious.

      Medium to rather short. It ends with a mineral mix with a little wood and malty biscuits. But this bottle could make it on my shelf forever. I may still improve these notes. ... can he still manage the magic 88? :)

    A fresh 18 year old citrus candy.

    You can sniff for a long time and always gain new impressions, very complex in aroma. The taste continues what you have already smelled. Especially sweet citrus, orange and spices. An honest guy. Which is also very complex and a lot of fun.

      Fresh citrus notes, light orange notes to ripe juice oranges, the smoke is very delicate and far away, vanilla paired with sweet cream. Various spices with clove in the background. Generally citric, fresh, sweet.
    • Taste
      First sweet citrus fruits, then full volume with juicy oranges, sour fruit notes and slightly bitter grapefruit, from which the oak with spices and pleasantly sparkling pepper develops. The alcohol is perfectly integrated.
    • Finish
      Sparkling oak, bitter fruit notes, some vanilla, very light smoke at the end. Medium to long finish.

    Really good 100% ex-bourbon matured Highland Park. I haven't been the biggest fan of their OB expressions recently, but I thought the flavors in this bottling were nice. P.s. not sure what "full volume" means but this was not aggressive at all. Should've bottled it at cask strength with a name like that.⁣

    Short Comparison between the Cask Orkney (WID: 113256), the Full Volume (WID: 101678), and the Berry Bros & Rudd (WID: 108315)

    The Cask Orkney and the Full Volume are almost inevitably similar. The Cask Orkney has a bit more freshness and citrus in it. The smoke feels a bit cooler in the Cask Orkney. The full volume has more grain and oak notes, is slightly muted and fuller. It seems to me that the Full Volume has a little more wood influence.
    I tend to like the Full Volume in direct comparison even a bit better, because it works a tick older than the Cask Orkney. Both are really solid malts. There will not be a big bottle, so I do not have to ask myself which bottle to buy.

    The Berry Bros & Rudd tolerate some water. Otherwise he seems somehow alcoholic. He opens with water. The water then has herbal, forest and meadow notes. It's such a cross between Cask Orkney and the Full Volume for me. He also has a freshness similar to the Cask Orkney, but this seems somehow elegant in the Berry Bros & Rudd. In addition also wood influence like with the Full Volume. In addition, the smoke may be stronger than the two before it. The sherry is not really something to hear. Overall, the Berry Bros & Rudd is probably the most complex whisky in comparison, as it brings a mix of freshness and wood with it. But it does not necessarily have to be a big bottle.

    With a name like "Full Volume" I anticipated a cask strenght bottling, but 47,2% feels very right for this.
    It's the same age but less than half the price of "The Light".
    That one is 52,9%, so you get less alc strenght, but double the volume of a better whisky for the same money.
    "Full Volume" may not be such a bad name after all ;-)

      Hint of vanilla and deep down a little smoke.

      Half way the oak takes over and it gets more dry and a bit tannic bitterness.

      In my opinion it's a little bit too dry/bitter to be in tune with it's sweetness.
      None the less, a pleasant whisky.

    A completely different, official bottling of Highland Park - without sherry cask maturation. And that's exactly what makes it so interesting for me, because the delicate yellow fruity flavours are very well balanced with the vanilla and cereal sweetness, surrounded by spiced oak and light tobacco smoke. When adding water this dram gradually loses its sweetness and more and more spices from the bourbon barrels come to the fore. A really enjoyable bottling, completely different from HP's usual core range.

      Fresh on the nose with a fruity start - apricots, hints of pineapple and subtle lemons. Then sweet notes of vanilla arrive, nicely intermingling with cereals (porridge-like), tender herbs and a whiff of tobacco smoke in the back. The alcohol is noticeable but not pungent at all.
    • Taste
      Bold and intense on the palate. Starts with a creamy sweetness of vanilla and malted barley, followed by apricots, oranges and lemon zests. Then warming with oak, white pepper, mint, and heather honey in the back. There's a hint of herbs towards the finish, nicely wrapped in tender tobacco smoke. Rich and mouth-coating.
    • Finish
      The finish is medium-long, warm and creamy with acacia honey and oranges. Becomes drier on the tail with spiced oak, cloves and a whiff of smoke.

      With water: Clean and fresh on the nose when a few drops of water are added. There's more citric fruit coming through while vanilla and cereal notes are tamed. More oak spice with a whiff of tobacco smoke in the back. Wow - fairly spicy on the palate with cracked black pepper, oak, tannins and cloves. The delicate sweetness and fruity flavours are almost completely gone while a touch of smoke lingers in the back. The finish is short, slightly warm with creamy vanilla and subtle smoke. No fruits anymore.

      Also on the palate again "dark" sweetness, also tart and spicy, again with herbs and nuts, the sticky, earthy is also found again. The subtle fruit notes that are sweeter than in the nose

    This malt has a beautiful nose. I like it very much. A very special highland park. I just think that the nose is the best thing about the malt. It breaks down somewhat over the palate to the finish. And it takes time in the glass

    Beautiful, elegant Highland Park. Comparatively little smoke. The first-fill ex-bourbon barrels dominate the aromas.

      Pleasantly fresh and maritime. Very fine smoke. Heather. Some white pepper tingles my nose. Behind it tropical light fruits, I can recognize some coconut and pineapple.
      After the first sip, the impression on the nose becomes sweeter and shows significantly more vanilla. In addition, forest honey and some icing.

      Spicy entry. Very appropriate alcohol strength. Something tingles on the tongue. Light aromatic wood aromas that remind me of oak and cedar. White pepper. The smoke can only be seen in the distance. On the palate the honey.

    Very nice, exotic-sweet fruitiness (pineapple, passion fruit, kiwi, etc. in the blender, light honey, energy!), A touch of coconut and vanilla, later traces of pipe tobacco and beet syrup, very light smoke. Delicious, very pleasing, for almost 85 € almost too round, there could be some edge or more% at (especially with the name).

    Taste: sweet, soft onset, gaining more and more power, vanilla, honey, some smoke, heather, sea salt, slightly mineral, cereals

    Finish: nice length, sweetness paired with heathy aromas, the smoke is a bit stronger here, light fruits (pear and pineapple), also some oak wood comes with a pleasant spice

    Conclusion: HP from bourbon casks - unusual, but can be very delicious

    The Full Volume is an intense floral and citrusy ex-bourbon whisky that combines the classic notes of bourbon maturation. Much freshly mown hay and marginal smoke with a maritime base note can be found in the nose again. In the mouth then immediately present and powerful sweet. The alcohol content is tuned almost exactly right and carries the flavors ideally on the tongue. This is followed by a few herbs with ripe pear and sparkling lemon. At the back a little oak, but never with bitter disturbing with the ubiquitous lemon note medium long intensive warming finish.

    scbp-5431 should be a wine with a very high proportion of bourbon barrels and a slender wine. The smell is simple and delicate, and the taste is sweet and pleasing. In some ways it resembles the refreshing and fruity taste of some old Genting Japanese vases. Of course, its bitter ending is no exception.

    It's a very nice dram but not Island style, although there is a little bit of smoke. It would not make any big difference and still be good even if there was no smoke at all, it is more of a proper Highland, anyway, similar to their name. Here is creamy vanilla in old bourbon oak casks with enough abv.

    Definitely better than most of their sherried expressions at 40%, the vikings from which labels, if ressurrected, would laugh at the lack of strenght at the name Full Volume.

    Highland Park Full Volume is a 17-year-old special bottling from 2017, but it will still be available at the end of 2021 - so it was bottled in large numbers. The special thing about this bottling is the lack of sherry barrels, which are characteristic of Highland Park. This is a pure 1st fill Bourbon maturation. Decent age, 1st fill barrels and a slightly higher drinking strength with 47.2% vol. - That is certainly not the volume control that has been torn open, but it should make enough noise.

    • Nose
      In nosing it is initially not the typical Highland Park, which is easily recognizable by its often mentioned heather peat notes. A certain sherry influence is probably required for this aroma. You don't get the smoke straight away, it's bourbon with fresh citrus notes, grapefruit, maybe pineapple.

      The fruits are not pure and light, however, they have a beech tone, because the cranked amplifier creaks: this is then the smoke that rounds everything off nicely and adds a complex note. And then there is also a freshly sliced vanilla pod. This cannot be identified as Highland Park at first glance, but it has a rich, beautiful aroma.
    • Taste
      The taste of the whisky starts with a strong start, the 47.2% vol. no slouch. Then there are fruits with vanilla, the sweetness remains in the background, but is present, as is the smoke, which softens the sweetness. Orange juice and some mango, plus a touch of ginger, which provides strength and tingling.
    • Finish
      In the finish there is a slightly maritime note from the barrel, some wood with vanilla and ginger remain on the palate, the slight hint of the taste of a not-so-sweet tropical fruit gum drop. It doesn't last very long, some smoke stays a moment longer.

      An atypical but delicious Highland Park, which with its pure bourbon maturation sets a counterpoint to the dark sherry bottlings. It could last a little longer, but at the age of 17 it has already matured nicely and has no disturbing young fruit aromas.

      It's a good rock song that comes out of the amp with fat pressure and rich riffs. Can you have fun with

    The nose starts off strongly with notes of vanilla and glue ???? as well as fresh green fruit aromas (gooseberries, green apples).

    Sweet-sour and medium-strong in the mouth.

    In the finish, an aromatic, light smoky note that overlies everything else and combines with a little oak. Behind it some citrus and nutmeg.
    Length: 5/10

    Well, for "Full Volume" the intensity (barrel strength) is a bit missing, and I would have guessed it to be a bit younger blindly. Overall, however, a drinkable and uncomplicated HP.

      I left it in the glass for a while because I didn't like the aroma at first. But it changes over time, in a positive way for my taste. Fruity and vanilla. Round yet intense. Red apples and ripe orchards. Harmonious and mild. Honey sweetness and a fine citrus note. I had to think for a while about what exactly I was writing here. That's why I call the aroma complex.

    Not a typical HP in my opinion, for it lacks this slight peaty influence and smoky notes. This one is lighter, fruitier, and smooth. I really like this one, friendly and very drinkable, but certainly not dull or pale.
    After this conclusion, I like to add that I think the name Full Volume is a quite strange one, for that suggest a pretty rough/tough whisky, which isn't the case at all. But pleasant for sure.

    Objectively a well-made OB, but for me the first-fill bourbon influence is too saccharine and flowery. The finish in particular borders on sickly-sweet. Not sure I need pineapple aroma in my Highland Park, either.
    Guess I like my HP's darker and spicier, and yes: sherried.
    Lovely wood smoke in here, though.

    Although it is light, the peat is what strikes you first. Delicately smoked, like a campfire that has been extinguished for some time. Behind, a creamy sweetness, with toffee and wood. The influence of bourbon is felt, with vanilla and gourmet citrus fruits. The texture of the whisky is very smooth, like silky. It's honey galore, mint lozenges and a little iodine. The finish is quite long, on charcoal and wood.

    Fairly round and harmonious, slightly smoky bourbon barrel ripening of Highland Park, something you rarely get (without sherry). Many tropical fruits that are at first unusual, but then very pleasant and refreshing. So great for the summer.

    Solid whisky, very well balanced, complex and overall pleasant. HP signature smoke is very gentle and just highlights other flavors and notes. At the time of releasing it was priced quite hard, but now price went down a bit setting very good value for money to this bottling.

    Nose:

    Immediately pear compote with cinnamon. A small "farmy" note that fits very well in combination with the beautiful sweetness. Some sea aroma in the background. A hint of marzipan. There is only a trace of smoke, if any.
    After a while, pear and sweetness step back a bit and delicate salty sea aromas come to the fore. What a sniffer.

    Palate:

    Again pear, cinnamon, vanilla and a little honey. The alcohol is very well integrated. Perfect drinking strength. No water necessary. Not very complex but a nice palate.

    finish:

    Very nice salty sea aroma, the pear is also something. Mouth watering. A very delicate smoke note in the background. Medium. A delicate note of wood and spices lingers longer.

    Conclusion: very tasty, uncomplicated HP. At 17/18, there is a very good PLV here. The use of ExBourbon barrels was very worthwhile here. More such fillings, please.
